Carlie was tidying up downstairs when the doorbell rang. She went to open the door and saw Edwin standing there with a huge grin. "Surprise baby girl."
Carlie's face broke into a matching grin. "Oh my god Edwin hey!" They hugged and she pulled him inside. "What are you doing here? How are you?"
Edwin laughed. "I'm great and I wanted to come see my best friend. How are you?"
Carlie looked at herself and apologized to Edwin. "I'm sorry for my appearance, I was doing a bit of cleaning."
Edwin waved it off. "You look fine. So how do you like it here?"
Carlie walked over to the sofa and sat down, Edwin following. "It's so great. The people are nice, I like my workplace but getting used to the people there." she said rolling her eyes.
Edwin smiled.
Carlie hugged him again. "It's so good to see you."Carlie and Edwin were sitting on the living room floor playing scrabble.
"Need some letters." Edwin says shaking the bag.
"Bug off Edwin." Carlie laughs while trying to focus.
Edwin said. "Here, let me help you out." while spreading a few letters from the bag.
Just then Nick walked into the house and Carlie stood up to hug him. "Hey you." she smiled. Nick was looking at Edwin.
Edwin smiled, "Hey, finally good to meet you."
Nick replied, "Hey. Carlie didn't tell me you were in town."
Carlie said, "I didn't know either and he surprised me with a visit."
Edwin stood up also. "You wanna play with us?"
Nick shook his head. "No. I got some things to do." he walked upstairs and Carlie looked at Edwin. "I'll be right back and don't cheat!" she ran upstairs to talk to Nick. She saw that he was annoyed and she didn't know why. She walked back downstairs without talking to him.Edwin was texting someone on his phone. "Hey everything ok?"
She smiled, "Yeah. Ready to lose?"
He laughed. They finished the game and Carlie won. Edwin stood up. "I gotta meet a couple of people, I'll try to stop by before I leave."
Carlie stood and hugged him. "I'm glad you came by. Yes you better see me before you leave." she walked him out and they talked a few minutes more before she came in. She was still smiling as she picked up the game pieces to place them back in the bag. She placed the game back with the others and went upstairs.
