Rhydian
I remember the time before i ran away. I wasn't going to leave at first, but there were complications and it was no longer safe for me to to stay in Stoneybridge. Shannon and Tom had left bait for their so-called 'endangered' wolves, thinking that they were helping them. But my mum, Ceri, smelt the scent and was intised by it; she ran towards it, putting them in danger. Maddy knew this so she raced to protect them, revealing herself in wolf-form. I wanted to get to know my mum more , but i didn't want to leave Maddy. Nevertheless, I couldn't stay; i wasn't welcome in Maddy's pack anymore.
I can't share this with anyone, but I so desperately want to tell Jenny the truth; it's so hard to lie to her after all she's done for me. But i can't, i must protect the secret.
"There are some things i just can't tell you, Jenny" i sigh. I hope that Jenny leaves me alone, that she understands or just thinks that i don't want to share this with them because i am ashamed or something- I have no such luck.
"Well you're going to have to start talking, Rhydian Morris, because i'm not leaving this room until you do." Jenny isn't going to take no for an answer. "Three months you were gone for, with no explanation when you returned. We deserve some answers, Rhydian, starting with why you ran away in the first place."
Tough question. It's not as if i can tell her that my real mum and my brother turned up, so i went to live in the wild with them. Oh, and that i am a wolfblood.
But i can tell her part of the truth. It's going to be hard, though. "I can tell you why i ran away," i tell her. "You see, i found out who my real mum is. Her- her name's Ceri."
Jenny isunderstandably shocked. "Your mother is here? How is that even possible?"
"I don't know" i lie. "I don't think i can tell you any more." I wish i could be less vague.
"Well, goodnight!" Jenny says. What's that supposed to mean? That i'm off the hook? Then it all becomes clear when she says "You'll explain the rest to your counsellour tomorrow." So that's what she wants, for me to open up to a complete stranger. Great!
Maddy
It is midnight. I am on the hill where Rhydian, Tom and Shannon watched me leave Stoneybridge and their lives. Jana told me not to waste my time with this myth, but i have to find out for myself if this story is true.
I crouch down on the ground and take a deep breath. I concentrate on only Rhydian as i let Eolas take over me. As my mind wanders towards his house l see him lightly sleeping. I try to focus on him, i suppose trying to get into his mind. Then, suddenly, i see nothing, as if there is only a blank screen in front of me.
Slowly a figure comes into focus. It's Rhydian! I scream his name.
"Who's there?" Asks Rhydian, confused. He obviously can't see me, but i did it! I went into his dream, and now i can talk to him.
"It's Maddy!" I shout, before realising i can lower my voice. "Look, i know this sounds ridiculous but this is real! I'm not just a part of your dream, i'm comunicating with you using Eolas!"
He seems like he doesn't believe me, but he wants to. " Why can't i see you, Maddy?"
I have an idea. "I think it's because i'm using eolas and you're not. You need to imagine that i am in front of you." I watch as he slowly bends down and looks ahead. We wait for a few moments, then his eyes widen as he springs back into his feet.
"Maddy, is it really you?" He walks forward so that we are face to face. He studies me and then his face breaks into a huge grin. We bury each other in a long, overdue hug.
"You are a little genius, you know that?" He whispers.
We sit on a white floor and start blabbering away to each other. "How's the pack? How's Jana?" Rhydian asks.
"They're great, but my family's really missing Stoneybridge. Jana was so welcoming, but I wish we could come back. I miss everyone."
Rhydian looks at me sadly. "I know, i keep losing control of my wolf self. I mean, i nearly transformed in front of my foster mum today! It was so much easier when i had a pack."
We both sigh. Then another though crosses my mind. "Rhydian, how quickly do you think time passes when we do this?"
"I don't know", he admits.
"Perhaps i should go..." i say.
"No, wait," Rhydian says,"i need some advice." He hesitates, as if he is ashamed of something. "My foster parents think i need counselling. I've got to go to an appointment tomorrow, and i'm meant to discuss why i ran away. What am i meant to say?"
Then a piercing sound fills the air around us. The blank screen starts to fade away.
"Rhydian!" I yell. I can't leave him, not now.
"Tomorrow Maddy." I can just make out his voice. "I love you..." he fades away, and i wake up in the same place i used Eolas in. At first i'm confused, then i look up to see my mum glaring at me.
"What on Earth are you doing here?"
Hope you liked it guys! sorry it's so late but i promise i'll upload more consistently.
