"That's it, he can't stay here anymore." I heard Alexandria's dad yell in the kitchen. "He is making Alexandria do illegal things. I will not raise a criminal, let alone let one into our house!" Alexandria was sitting beside me outside on the curb, you could hear the screams outside. For a second I felt bad, but it quickly passed.
"Is it always like this?" She shot me a glare before getting up, seeing her walk towards the house I grabbed her wrist.
"Let. Me. Go." Alexandria said, I could hear her voice become strained.
"No, let them argue it out. Sit back down."
The arguing started twenty minutes ago, it just got worse as time went by. Alexandria was caught sneaking out in the middle of the night by her mom and when her dad came home in the morning she told him. She told me when we first came outside that she was just sneaking out to see a boy, but her dad seemed to think the worst of things.
"You don't get to tell me what I can and cannot do, I'm going inside so take your hand off of me." Letting go of her I watched her go towards the house, after a few seconds I groaned and chased after her. She opened the front door, her parents were too busy screaming at each other to notice us coming back inside.
"I want him out!" Her father slammed a cabinet door, seeing her mother jump Alexandria did the same, only she jumped back and crashed into me.
"Joseph didn't do anything, you're overreacting." Her mother gained her composure and went back to cooking.
Suddenly Alexandria stormed into the kitchen, following after her both of her parents looked up at us. I could already tell she was about to say something stupid, I was already preparing myself to pack my bags. Alexandria turned to look at me quickly, giving me a small smile before turning back around.
"Is he leaves, I leave." Seeing a fire ignite in her fathers eyes he looked straight at me, suddenly his eyes went to Alexandria. Grabbed Alexandria I put her behind me, I didn't want her to be in the way when he charged. And he was going to charge. In three seconds he grabbed me by my shirt and pushed me against the wall.
"You little shit, I'm going to kill you."
"Now officer, that'd be against the law." Getting punched in the gut I let out a groan. I kind of deserved that one.
Getting punched again across the face Alexandria let out a scream as I fell to the floor. Feeling his foot slam against my lower ab section it took all it had in me not to get back up and hit him to where he'd get knocked out.
"Dad stop it!" Alexandria grabbed her dad by the hand and attempted to pull him away. Getting back up I wiped my hands on my pants.
"I'll go pack my bags." Was all I said as I left the kitchen.

Opening the front door Alexandria chased after me, even though I told her to stay she just told me to shut my mouth. Walking down the street the sun beat down on us, looking at her hands I noticed that they were shaking. Shifting my bag to the other shoulder I patted Alexandria on the shoulder.
"It'll be okay, you'll be able to come back. It's only temporary." Once I saw that she didn't answer I stopped walking. "Right?" She turned around and gave me a slight smile.
"Right." Seeing her continue to walk I quickly caught up and turned her around.
"You're a liar--" cutting myself off when I saw her cold eyes for a moment I felt afraid of her.
"Just keep moving. I want to get on with this case and I can't do that if you stand around." Resuming my walking I thought about going back to my mothers house. My neighbor would be at work so I could go back home and stay there until I figure out a good plan. Maybe decide what stuff to keep and throw out as well.
"Okay Devil, let's go to my house."
Arriving at my house I quickly shut the front door and locked it, everything was in boxes now. The furniture was covered in plastic and there was no light shining inside. It was empty, silent and not the house I used to know. Going upstairs to my room I opened my door and sighed, all of my things were gone. Leaving my room I went inside my moms room, her scent was fading slowly. Just like her smile from my memory and laugh, everything was fading as more time passed.
Sitting on her bed I rested my head in my hands, I felt so exhausted, and the day just started. Hearing a knock on the door I looked up, Alexandria stood in the door way holding a notebook.
"I wasn't snooping, I was sitting on the couch when I lost my phone. I lifted up the cushion and I saw this." Holding my hands out she threw it at me, catching it I flipped through the pages. Most of them were blank. Setting it down she went to leave the room, calling out her name she turned around.
"Thank you." Was all I said as I laid down onto the mattress.
"Of course, but Joseph-" looking at her she cut herself off. "Never mind, I'll tell you later."

Searching through my mothers drawers with Alexandria I paused at the wedding ring that my father got for my mother. After all of these years she kept it. Scoffing I threw it into the trash can, Alexandria quickly chased after it. Picking up a necklace it had a heart pendant at the bottom with little gemstones, slipping it into my back pocket I continued my search, finding absolutely nothing.
Hours later I sat on the kitchen floor eating a pack of beef jerky that I got from the gas station down the street. Alexandria sat eating her bag of chips. Feeling her gaze on me I looked up.
"What happened to your dad? I haven't heard or seen anything about him."
Getting up I threw my empty bag away into the trashcan that had nothing in it. Turning to face her I met my eyes with hers. I never talked about my dad and I wasn't going to start now, it was none of her business to be poking her nose into anyways.
"Don't ever ask me about my dad again."
[A/N] So this chapter is about 1100 words long, I'm sorry it's so short but I want to get this update out because it's been a long while it feels like. Also, please inform me if there's any spelling errors, I try my best to edit all of the mistakes but I do miss some. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
