Despite how enticing the thought of us alone together was, 'James' was insistent of us going. Apparently, it would have been rude to skip out. Whatever. He was just as nervous as I was.
We walked along the cobblestone streets of the island town, stars glittering overhead. The Scorpion chased Orion, who ducked behind the Big Dipper. I fist-pumped when Orion bashed the Scorpion over it's head.
'James' grinned. "The bastard finally got what's coming for him."
"If only Apollo could receive the same." I tapped my chin and gave him a thoughtful look. "I wonder..."
"I won't help you murder Apollo."
"Then what good are you?" I teased.
"If that's all you need of me, then I suppose not too much." He was joking but the pain underneath made me want to hold him close.
The cobblestone faded into sand and sand into the sea. In the distance, the massive wall of storm clouds was served to remind that all was not right. It hurt to know that there was something wrong about all of this. We weren't supposed to be here, but someone had lured us and were keeping us captive.
Even if this was an almost bliss, it was manufactured. It was wrong.
"Unless we're skinny dipping, I'm not prepared to swim." Leah said as the boys led us into the water. "And even then."
"Hold your breath." Alexander grinned and dove under, pulling Leah's small body with him.
Shit. Shit.
'James' pecked my forehead and followed the archaic blond, with me left to swim after him.
