This chapter is in the third person's POV.
Guys, sorry this chapter is really short. I just wanted to give you guys a look into what happened. The next chapter will be up soon! x
Interlude:
The rain was brutal that night, hitting Dev's face like bullets as he rode like a madman on his bike.
No.
This can't be right!
NO!
"Lasya." He whispered as tears trailed down his cheeks. He could feel their heat even against the ice cold rain.
He slowed down his bike as he reached the house he had spent a majority of his childhood at and got off it. Even his legs dreaded what he was about to see and had locked themselves, preventing him to move forward.
Dev felt someone grab on to him.
"I'm here, Dev. Let's go." He heard Manish say. He was Dev's best friend.
Manish grabbed on to Dev's shoulder and guided him through the entrance. Dev made his way blindly through the crowd, not ready to open his eyes to what he was about to see.
"Look." Manish whispered.
"I can't." Dev replied, crying harder now.
"Dev, you can do this. I'm here."
Dev slowly opened his eyes.
There she was. Lasya Subbaiah. It looked as though she was in deep sleep. She looked so peaceful.
That's it. Dev had enough. He had to get out of there.
He blindly pushed against everyone and once again, he felt the rain on his face.
"WHY HER?" He cried out loud and fell to his knees.
"Dev, please don't." He could hear Manish's soft sniffles.
The pain was unreal. He could feel his heart clench at the thought of Lasya.
"She's gone." Dev whispered to Manish.
"I know, Dev." Manish cried.
WHY HER GOD? WHY HER?! he thought and threw his helmet with all the force he could muster.
As he heard the dull thud of the helmet in the distance, he came to the realization that it was the helmet that she had gifted for his birthday last year. He quickly scrambled onto his feet and ran for it.
He grabbed it and hugged it close to his body and said, "Sorry, Lasya. I didn't mean to. Sorry."
The pain took over him once again.
