Drip
Drop
'Oh...'
I felt something drip against my face, of which rolled down my cheek. A sharp sting attacked my eyes; a bright light was projected overhead. I squeezed my eyes shut. I tried to move my arm to rub my eyes, but I realized my arms were chained down against the cold table I was lying on and painted with bruises and cuts.
I was scared. I knew where I was, and I had hoped I would never come back.
"You're awake," a raspy voice called out. "How was your nap?"
My eyes fluttered open, though quickly squinting as a bright light bulb dripped warm liquid onto my face. Whatever was on my face wasn't good, but that was the least of my worries right now.
"Amazing," I spoke brokenly.
My eyes were focused on the dirty ceiling, the tiles misplaced and damaged. I could tilt my head, but it wasn't worth it.
He cleared his throat, his heels clacking against the metal floor as he approached me. His shadow crept over me. Dull grey eyes stared down at me emotionlessly. He looked cold and empty, a human shell without life.
But I suppose "human" was what he was not.
His stare bore deep into my brain, unblinking and lifeless. He was nothing like what Chris had come to love, nothing like what anyone saw in his shy acts and nervous charades.
Ted was someone else completely, someone I knew I couldn't trust.
His eyes were wide, and not a speck of emotion was to be seen in them. His lips were slightly parted, sharp teeth were set perfectly aligned behind his perfect lips on his perfect face.
Ted was perfect.
In every way it seemed.
We should have realized he was too good to be true...
And he was.
But he wasn't human.
We wouldn't have minded if he wouldn't have changed.
We wouldn't have minded if he wouldn't have destroyed us the way he did.Because Ted was such an angel, we thought this monster could never be him....
Never had his eyes looked so unsightly. Usually everyone went crazy over them, complimenting him on how beautiful they were. In fact, his eyes were beyond gorgeous.
But now they were the last things I'd want to see in my dreadful situation.
I'm sure Chris feels the same way too. I can't imagine how he feels looking into Ted's eyes and remembering how much he had adored them, or even Ted as a whole. How does he feel knowing that the "love of his life" was actually a demon that would forever haunt him.
One thing I do know, however, is that Ted can't hurt him if he's looming over me right now like I'm roadkill.
"You were asleep for a week or two," he spoke monotonously. His eyes never left mine, and mine never strayed from his. He sneered. "Did you have a dream?" "None of your business, fuck face," I spat.
Bad move.
Ted growled, swiveling around to snatch one of the many blades displayed carelessly on his dented rolling desk. Turning back, he slammed his fist downwards onto my stomach, the blade in his hand pointed to the ceiling.
"One more smart ass remark and I open that stupid fucking wound one more God damn time."
I gulped down the saliva forming in my mouth, "I dreamt..." I couldn't tell him, I knew I couldn't. The stupid fantasy I had would make Ted laugh at how idiotic it was. He'd mock me, tell me that I was out of my mind to think that everything could just be okay.
But I had to say something.
"I dreamt about racing cars," I lied. Ted scoffed, putting the blade back down on the desk and pulled out his phone. He typed something quickly and shoved the device back into his back pocket.
"My cousin will be taking care of you two idiots..." Ted paused. "Or should I say three..."
I raised a brow, confused and horrified at the possibilities that could be this 'third person.'
"For all of the times I'm gone starting today, and ending the day he decides to leave." Ted growled. "Don't try anything slick or you're dead."
I rolled my eyes. "It's not like I can anyway," I said, wiggling my fingers to emphasize my current state of freedom.
Ted ignored me. I heard him walk away as the sound of his heels became more distant.
I sighed, closing my eyes and letting the tears that had just formed in them trail down the sides of my face.
----------------------------------------------
Apparently I had fallen asleep, because the slam of the door against the wall caused me to almost have a heart attack. Honestly, dying from a heart attack didn't seem that bad compared to my current situation.
I heard a voice and two sets of footsteps clamp down the creaky stairs. The voice obviously belonged to Ted, but I had no idea who was with him. I didn't really know Ted knew other people besides us...
The steps grew louder, and a shadow formed over me. I turned my head, refusing to see the faces of these assholes. The other person cleared their throat. They were male, and seemed to be around Ted's age, though possibly older judging upon the deeper tone in his voice.
A hand gripped my chin, harshly moving my face to face the two before me. My eyes widened, and I froze.
It was the guy from my dream.
The love interest.
I know only people I've seen in real life appear in my dreams, but I swear I've never seen the face of this guy before.
'I guess it would be weird for Ted's cousin to be Ted's possible love interest after all.'
Ted snapped me out of my thoughts, snapping his fingers in front of my face with an annoyed look on his face. "This is my cousin," he spoke sternly." "Nick, this is Aiden." He whispered something to Nick, causing Nick to develop a slightly surprised look on his face. It probably had something to do with that time I almost killed Ted. I was close, so close that if I had an extra second I would've been out of here months ago.
And still had functioning legs.
But without that second, Ted had the time to notice that that shadow next to him did not belong to a table, or a chair, or any sort of harmless, dead object. It belonged to me.
And never did he let a shadow like mine loom over him again.
That day I had received the worst beating I've ever had in my life.
