The Drought

You never know hopelessness
Until your prayers go unanswered.
You never know deep-seated loss
Until you realize there's nothing left.
You never know the cling of sadness
Until the color around you has gone.
You never know acute pain
Until your heart has been broken.
You never know the loss of faith
Until your trust had been shattered.
You never know the gravity of despair
Until your drowning in the deep dark.
You never know shackles of insecurity
Until relentless fear and doubt seeps in.
You never know self-loathing
Until  a monster stares back at you.
You never know a harsh life
Until you wake and ask for death.
You never know, you never know,
Until that day  comes and go.
And sometimes, I desperately wish
That I never ever knew.
