The Eclipse

I could see them crawling.
Coming closer, slowly inching
Bit by bit, they were gaining
As I was helplessly running.

I could feel their hunger.
They wanted me to suffer
In their cold clutches forever.
My ties from the world, they sever.

I could have reached out my hand
But there was no one on land.
I have grasped the only strand
But the weight, I could not withstand.

I could not take anymore.
For what do I suffer for?
The wave of darkness, I deplore.
Save me from this wretched galore.
