Mimik

12:49 AM.

Excitement, sadness, nervousness. Too many emotions coursing through my body at once. Too many thoughts of how I look, how he will look. If he loves me the way I love him. He's tall and the most beautiful person I've never seen. Too excited, too nervous, too happy, too sad.

Video call ringing. Video call ringing. Video call ringing

Video call connecting. Video call connecting with Mimik. Mimik connecting to video call.

"Hey." He's not looking at the screen. He's not looking at me. Why isn't he looking at me?

"Hey. What's up?" Don't seem sad. Don't be sad. Stop being sad. There's no need for you to be sad right now. Breathe. You're okay.

"Nothing. Working on, uh, the barring for my board. They're breaking on me. What about you?"

"Nothing really. I've been listening to  a lot of  Twenty One Pilots, though." Too much. Stop talking. Don't say anything else he thinks your a weirdo. He's a badass why would tell him that?

"Ow! Shit! Sorry I, uh, I  just cut myself. I'll be back in a sec. Talk to my dog till I get back. Maya!" A gold retriever runs into the screen. She's shaggy and dirty but it's cute. "Awe girly you need a bath. Later, though. Um, I'll be back." The dog starts barking affective-immediately. I don't know what to do, so I sit and listen to Maya barking. Someone comes over and calms her down, but it's not Mimik. Maybe his dad?

"Oh, hi." He pets the dog and rubs the top of his hair.

"Hi, I'm Spade. Well, Mimik calls me Spade and I call him Mimik. We don't know each others real names. It's complicated really. I..., um"

"Yeah. I'm Mimik's older brother. Just got back from my semester in England, actually. But there's no need for you to know that.", he's just as awkward as I am thank God. He looks like him. Pretty, but devious, "Oh, Mimik's back I'll leave you to it."

Mimik comes back on screen. He pushes Maya away and looks at me for the first time. We lock eyes and then immediately look what we can see of each other up and down.

"Shit."
