MACKAYLA
I zoned out during the rest of the tests that Maddie had to do. I faintly felt her take blood but I wasn't aware of my surroundings. All I could do was think about everything that had led to this moment. The years of torment, the scars that would be permanently etched into my skin,
"Is Damien dead?" I asked, surprising myself at my lack of ability to control my mouth,
"What?" Maddie stuttered, seeming nervous about what I asked,
"Is Damien dead?" My voice was more powerful the second time. Maddie sighed,
"No, he's not. He was shot with a wooden bullet but it missed his heart. If we're lucky he was stupid enough to leave it there and it would have drifted into his heart, he won't get far. We have search parties looking for him as we speak, and even if he did get it out, he suffered heavy losses, he's not strong enough to attack the academy alone." I nodded, slightly apprehensive of what she told me. Maddie sighed, "I almost wish I didn't tell you, you look terrified." I let out a small smile,
"No I would've been more annoyed if no one told me." Maddie hummed in acknowledgment, taking notes in one of the many files littering her desk,
"Ok, I've gone through all the scans and blood tests, you are good to go. If you go see Bailey, she can get you a room sorted out. I would help you find her but I have to go to a meeting." I nodded and walked out the white, sterile room. I looked around and saw Luke and Adalynn curled up on the hard leather chairs outside my room. I smiled slightly when I saw Luke asleep and Adalynn running her fingers through his hair, a smile on her face. She saw me and shifted Luke so he was lying across the chairs then jogged towards me,
"Hey Mac, you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm good, Maddie gave me the all clear so I was just trying to find Bailey to get a room but I have no idea where she is." I told her sheepishly, aware of how stupid I sounded
"I'll help you find her, she's my sister after all." I nodded and then followed the petite blond down the hall.
"So what's do you actually do here, no one ever told me?"
"Well we are an academy but primarily, we are an agency. We work to help protect individuals who have developed supernatural powers and are unable to control them. We also fight to protect the supernatural or in some cases, like yours, we protect the humans and fight against the supernatural. We try to avoid cases like yours as the supernatural world is larger than you could ever dream, if a war happened there would be no way that we could win." Adalynn told me, walking at a brisk pace. We made it out the medical ward and I was greeted with a huge, modern building. Glass staircases connected floors of pristine, white marble complete with projected, contact screens. Hands movements were made and giant 3d maps appeared with various coloured dots littering the maps. I was so amazed didn't realise that Adalynn was half way across the room, so I jogged in an attempt to catch up with her large stride,
"Do the police know about what you do, what happens here?"
"In a sense, yes. They know about Damien and what he is capable of so any signs of him on police radars, we handle. However, they don't know about the rest of the supernatural world. They give us some of the extreme cases that they don't have the resources to handle but these are mainly regarded with serial killers and extreme homicides."
"Wow." I whispered breathlessly,
"Wow indeed." Adalynn chuckled and we stopped outside a birch wood door, "Bailey's in here just knock and she should be in there. I'll see you later yeah?" I nodded and she walked away. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door,
