MACKAYLA

"I'll do it." I was almost shocked that those words came out of my mouth and by the look of everyone else, so were they,

"Are you sure, Mac you don't have to if you don't feel you're up to it." Luke asked, concerning flooding his eyes,

"No I want to, I want to be able to protect myself. I know this isn't the last time I'm going to see Damien however much I don't want to admit it."

"You're fine to do it on a medical basis but no sparring just yet, you still aren't strong enough to fight someone but feel free to start off in weapons training." Maddie commented from a medical perspective,

"When do we start?" I asked confidently,

"We could start now? We've got a weapons training session so we can start you off there if you want?" Adam asked, flashing me a jaw-dropping grin. I nodded suddenly feeling nervous all over again, "You'll probably be alright to train in that and you can take off the hoodie if you get too hot." I shot Luke a worried look, instantly feeling conscious about my scars. He sent me a reassuring smile which did nothing to calm my ever-growing nerves.

I zoned out after that. There were a few things to do with mission reports but I just didn't listen. My mind was swamped with nerves about what I was about to do. I don't want to make a fool of myself and I don't want them to see my scars. I eventually was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard chairs scraping on the floor as everyone stood up. I hastily stood up and followed everyone out the room. We walked out of room 104 and began the short walk to the training centre. Everyone made small talk with each other as we walked but I just remained silent, I was too nervous to speak,

"Here we are, the weapons room." Olivia announced, pushing open a set of double dark oak doors. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped to the floor. Around the room there were various targets in different shapes and sizes. On the opposite end of the huge room there was a rock climbing wall with platforms set at different heights of the twisting wall. The left-hand wall of the room was just covered in weapons. Everything from stakes, guns to vicious looking samurai swords. Everyone laughed at my reaction, "Everyone does that." I felt a small blush creep across my cheeks,

"Where do we start?" I asked confidently, a big smile on my face.

Two hours later

I landed on the floor with a thud, the harness still around my waist. I regret this decision so much.

"Come on Mac, get up." Adam pleaded, standing next to Luke who had his arms crossed. I am currently drenched in sweat, lying on the extremely cold floor,

"But the floors cold." I whined,

"Get up please." Luke begged, giving me a pouty lip,

"It isn't cute anymore Luke, it isn't cute." He huffed. Adam tried again,

"Please?" I rolled my eyes at his childish attitude,

"Ugh fine help me up." He jumped to his feet with a smile and held out a hand for me. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up with no cooperation from me, "I don't like this climbing wall, it hates me."

"Mac, I'm sorry to break it to you but that wall is inanimate. It can't hate you." Adam joked. I groaned again and went to flop back down but someone pushed me up,

"No, you're not going back down." Adam caught me in his arms and my grey eyes met with his brown ones. I was lost in his eyes. They held so much mystery, and passion. The chocolate brown iris contained flecks of hazel, laced with a small amount of worry. Luke cleared his throat and I broke out of my trance. Adam pulled me back up to my feet and we were both blushing a bright red,
