MACKAYLA

I groaned. A sledgehammer was pounding my skull to dust and my vision was hazy. When my vision finally cleared, I found myself looking to the azure sky and five pairs of eyes looking at me. I screamed and tried to wriggle away but with no success when I realised I was being held down. I screamed louder and struggled harder,

"Hey, hey calm down don't worry you're safe with us. Damien's gone you're ok calm down." One of them said to me, his bronze eyes mixing with his tanned complexion. My voice was hoarse from screaming and came out cracked,

"W...w... who are you?" I managed to stutter out,

"We're from the WA or Windrush Academy. We handle serial killers or situations where a supernatural person is either to blame or at risk. We have been tracking Damien for years now. I promise we would do nothing to harm you in any way," The same man told me, "I'm Hunter, this is Adalynn," He pointed to the girl with blue eyes who tried to save me before, "This is Olivia, my sister," He gestured to a girl with brown eyes who gave a small wave, "This is Max and Adam, they're twins," They both smiled at me with identical pearly white smiles and chocolate brown eyes, "And this is Bailey." The turquoise haired girl turned around flashing her kind emerald eyes, "We're just waiting for Luke, he's checking if there are any other survivors." I nodded and took a closer look at the people surrounding me. Adalynn was your typical blond hair, blue eyed beauty with perfect white teeth and an amazing smile. Olivia seemed quite shy and hid behind her curtain of black hair and black glasses concealing brown eyes. Her eyes and hair were the same shade as Hunter's and upon closer inspection it was more obvious they were related. Max and Adam both had the same deep chocolate eyes and chestnut hair. They were constantly surveying our surroundings making sure there was no one there. For once I was drawn more to Bailey's hair than to her eyes. Her turquoise hair fluttered around her in the light breeze, making her pale skin stand out but also bringing out the different shades of green in her eyes,

"Hey Hunter, Luke's over there. He's alone I don't think there are any more survivors." Adalynn called out. Hunter nodded and looked to me,

"Do you know if there are any more girls here?" I shook my head

"No, it has just been me and this other girl, Sage, but they killed her yesterday. I am the only one left." Hunter nodded and gave me a sympathetic smile. I shivered as a cold breeze ran down my spine; Hunter noticed and offered me his jacket which I gladded accepted. I wrapped it round my petite framed and instantly felt the warmth blocking the cold from biting at my body. I could vaguely hear voices but I wasn't paying any attention. I was just in my own world, what would've happened if I came home earlier that day three years ago? Would I have died with my parents or would things have played out the same way? Suddenly a voice pulled me out of my thoughts, a voice I hadn't heard in three years.

LUKE

I signed in annoyance as Damien sped off once again. I shot him with a wooden bullet but he moved and I missed his heart. I leant down to the girl he was feeding on and felt for her pulse. It was there, faint, but it was there,

"Adalynn, Hunter!" I called out. The blond beauty sped over, her hair flying around her in the breeze and Hunter followed with a limp and slow jog, "Take her down to Olivia and the rest of the team I'm going to see if there are any more survivors." They nodded and quickly followed my orders. Hunter picked her up bridal style and jogged to the clearing to meet with the rest of the team. I took a brisk walk around the camp eying the temporary wooden structures. Dead bodies littered the floor, I took relief in the fact that they were all vampires and my team were safe. Suddenly, a flash of red caught in the corner of my eye. I snapped round to see red hair fluttering in the breeze. I rushed over to the owner and approached slowly from behind,

"Are you OK? I'm here to help I won't hurt you." I got no reply and walked closer. Upon closer inspection, I realised it was a girl lying face down in the autumn leaves. I placed my hand on her shoulder and turned her around. Her eyes were open and staring, filled with dread. They were dull and had sunk into her skin out lined by dark circles bruising her chalk white skin with her cheekbones threatening to tear through her skin. Golden leaves had stuck to the blood that was once coming out of her forehead but had now dried. Puncture wounds littered her body, the freshest was on the side of her neck and presumably was the wound that killed her. I sighed,

"Another one dead" I murmured to myself. I placed my fingers over her eyelids and closed them. I got up and began to walk towards the clearing. I once again made my way through the camp. It was eerily still and silent, no movement coming from anywhere. I walked towards the clearing at a steady pace while keeping half an eye on my surroundings. I saw Adalynn waving at me and the others were crouched around the only survivor from this retched place,

"Hey Hunter, Luke's over there. He's alone I don't think there are any more survivors." She called out to Hunter who stood up away from the girl and made his way over to me along with Max, Adam and Adalynn leaving the girl with Bailey and Olivia,

"She woke up but she's scared we should probably get her to base her neck has stopped bleeding but she's lost a lot of blood." I nodded as Max updated me on her situation, "We don't know her name as we didn't want to overwhelm her and you're probably the most approachable." I nodded again,

"Is Damien dead?" Adalynn asked me wiping the blood off her lip, I shook my head,

"No, he got away but he's..." I was interrupted by a quiet voice breaking me out of my thoughts,

"Luke?"

MACKAYLA

My head snapped up,

"Luke?" I stared at him drinking in the familiar features, his grey eyes were staring into my identical eyes and they widened when he made the connection,

"Mac? He rushed towards me and wrapped me in a hug as I sobbed into his shoulder, "I finally found you, you have no idea how much I missed you!"

"I thought you gave up," I muttered into his shirt, he pulled away and held my face in his hands and wiped my tears away with the pad of his thumb,

"I never stopped looking, Mac, I never stopped looking for you." The others looked confused at the whole situation, "Mackayla is my sister, she was kidnapped three years ago. She was the one I was always looking for when we invaded the other camps." They all nodded and smiled at the moment. I was snapped out of my happy thoughts by a sharp pain in my neck, I whimpered and Luke noticed,

"We should get you back to base, you need to get that checked out and we need to get you checked for other injuries." I nodded. He picked me up bridal style and took me to a black van. We got in the back with Bailey, Olivia, Adalynn and Adam while Max and Hunter got in the front and we drove away from the place that held me captive for three years.
