CHAPTER 3
The girl with the blue eyes. She staring at me and we laughed, the corner of her eyes crinkled obscuring the sapphire beauties beneath. We were... happy something I haven't felt in a long time. The happiness shone in her eyes, like a light illuminating the darkness, a splash of colour in a monochrome world. Suddenly, the glass shattered and the illusion slipped. Red eyes were surrounding me from every angle. I could see the bitterness and the hatred they held deep within them slowly consuming them until all that was left was an emotionless being, incapable of feeling even a single flicker of anything except anger and animosity. The red in their eyes was like a flame burning in a room of oxygen: it was inextinguishable, unstoppable, the only thing that made it satisfied was the pain and suffering of others. Multiple fangs were plunged into her neck, shoulders and wrists from every angle, pale hands grasping onto her tan skin, which was slower growing paler by the second. Her blue eyes were a contrast to the red around her, her screams echoing in the empty space as they drained her of the life force as red as their eyes. All I could do was watch. I was frozen as I watched my only friend die in front of my eyes. As her eyes slowly began to lose their colour, I felt my eyes becoming dull and slowly draining of all hope, no one was coming to rescue me and one day I will die the exact same way that she is. A sickened crack ricocheted around the room as they broke her neck, she was dead. Free of all the pain and suffering she had been through. I looked around and all I could see were those eyes in which a crimson flame had been lit by a spark of violence. Those fanged smiles surrounded me in the darkness as I accepted that this was my last moment, my last chance to live. I was greeted by the pale skin and swirling tattoos of Damien as he gave me a fanged smirk and spoke with a sinister growl,
"Your turn sweetheart." I screamed, preparing the feel the merciless pain flood my system
LUKE
As we got in the van, I heard Mackayla's breathing slow down. I panicked for a second but regained my composure when realised she was asleep,
"Is she OK?" Adalynn whispered quietly, starting at the girl sleeping in my arms,
"She'll be fine; she has to be fine." I murmured, tears beginning to spring to my eyes. No I can't cry, not now. Mackayla needs me. I need to stay strong,
"She's a beautiful girl, she has your eyes." Olivia commented. I smiled at the compliment, Bailey rolled her eyes
"Well of course they have the same eyes, they're related." Bailey always had to add in some kind of snarky comment,
"Well actually, it's more likely that they had a similar facial structure than the same eye colour according to the genetic makeup of twins so you can just..." Max added to the conversation,
"Max no one cares." Bailey interrupted,
"Well I'm sorry this is what happens when you put a medic, especially one that works in the regeneration of cells in the DNA on a team and then start talking about genetics." Max muttered under his breath. We all laughed. I felt Mackayla twist in her sleep and whimper,
"Hey guys be quiet I don't want her to wake up, she needs to rest." I whispered,
"Actually, you should probably wake her up, it could be really dangerous for her to stay asleep, especially with the amount of blood she has lost." Max commented. I nodded in response, reluctant to wake her up. Then she started screaming in her sleep and thrashing around, the van swerved. I shouted at her to try and bring her out of her nightmare,
"Mackayla? Mackayla! Mackayla wake up it's just a dream! Mackayla!"
MACKAYLA
"Mackayla? Mackayla! Mackayla wake up it's just a dream! Mackayla!"
