MACKAYLA

I stayed up there until five and at three minutes past five I tore my eyes away from the sunset and started to walk down to the briefing room. I slowly jogged down two sets of spiralling, glass staircases as an attempt to be on time. I pulled open the dark oak door to see an empty room. I sighed,

"Everyone complains about me being late," I knew it wouldn't start until Luke and the others got back but I thought they were due back by now. I walked to one of the many open chairs and sat down. My eyes burned holes into the picture of Damien on the notice board, different colours of string and pins created a complex map on the board. A map to a kidnapper and murderer. A map to my kidnapper. I heard shuffling outside, but brushed it off, assuming it was just the everyday movement of people within the WA. A cold breeze slithered into the room and ran shivers up my spine. I stood and closed the door then briskly resumed my previous position I stared once again into the eyes of the picture, "I never thought I would know what it would be like to get rid of you." I heard a chuckle and my blood froze to ice,

"You haven't got rid of me yet sweetheart"

LUKE

"So what do you think it was a false report, just a fluke?" Adalynn asked as we drove back from the fake crime scene we were called to,

"I'm not sure; I just think we should be on alert. I mean for all we know, it is just a group of teenagers pulling a prank the bite marks didn't seem real." Max answered back,

"We're late for the briefing as well by the way, Mackayla will never stop rubbing this in," Bailey added, "Do you think it's Damien?"

"I don't know it doesn't seem like his style but..." I stopped mid-sentence and cursed loudly

"Luke what is it?" I could vaguely make out Adalynn's voice as I got lost in my thoughts,

"It all makes sense now. Why would he do an attack that is nowhere near his style, and a whole town as well? I don't see the point in the attack unless he needed to gain strength to attack somewhere. Somewhere that has the defences necessary to kill him. He has gone to Windrush. He's going after Mackayla! Step on it Max!" Max pushed the pedal down and drove faster than we have ever gone before. I'm coming Mackayla.

MACKAYLA

A clammy hand locked itself in a vice like grip over my mouth, restricting my screams to muffles. A bit down hard, in a last attempt at freedom. Damien cursed and his grip loosened, I managed to manoeuvre my way out of his grip and ran, screaming at the top of my lungs. I pulled the door open to be met by broken glass, blood and destruction. I froze in shock, my friends; my teammates were all being savagely slaughtered. I prayed that Luke was still on that mission and he was safe,

"There's no one to save you sweetheart." He wrapped a muscular arm around my waist and threw me through the glass wall at the back of the room. I pulled myself up, feeling the glass cut into my palms. I felt the familiar twinge of a broken rib and coughed, trying to get the air back into my lungs, a small amount of blood appeared on the stone floors of the storage room behind. The old room was dusty, depicting the years of neglect shown towards it. Filing cabinets littered the corners and an old pine bookcase was in pieces to my right. I pulled myself over to it in an attempt to find a piece sharp enough to use as a stake. I grasped one in my hand and prayed that Damien hadn't seen it. He began to walk towards me, causing me to retreat into the corner. I kept backing away until my spine hit the cold stone walls, "There's nowhere to run, you're all mine." I quickly grabbed the stake and shoved it into his stomach will all the strength I could muster. He groaned and crouched over; I stumbled to my feet and sprinted across the room. I heard the stake clatter to the ground as he pulled it from his stomach, he growled, "You want to play games? Fine. I like games." He used his vampire speed to appear in front of me within seconds. He picked me up by my neck and threw me into the centre of the room, I screamed, feeling my rib shift out of place once again.
