Derek and I got into the office just in time. Everyone else went to class as we got our lockers. Apparently our lockers were together so that got Derek and I happy. We had to go our separate ways as I had Art first. I entered in with a casual attitude, being greeted by the teacher.
"Ah! There she is! Class welcome our new student, Nikole!" The teacher announced with glee in her signing voice.
"Hi, I like to be called Nikki if that's ok." I kindly said, not wanting to be myself on the first day at this school.
"Oh well then, Nikki. Sit any where you please." She displayed me the classroom, which had a lot of free seats. I forgot that Kimberly and Abigail were in this class until I saw Abigail waving both her and Kimberly's hand like crazy.
I sat down next to them, making Abigail giggle with excitement. "Oh my god hey! Im so excited I have a class with you!" She exclaimed, squeaking instead of screaming because if her energy boost.
"Wow, you're just like your dad!" Kimberly spoke aloud, making me laugh.
"Yeah, it's a problem as you know from your dad and mine play with each other every time he comes over!" Abigail said.
"My dad usually gets upset at him. At least it they're best friends, compared to my dad and Wilson's dad." Kimberly said, bitting her lip. She definitely didn't want to talk about her father's relationship with David's father.
"Hey, so what project are we working on?" I asked them, wanting to start painting. I loved the arts while Derek loved to remix music. Our father didn't like that we never was as hooked into video games as he was, but he supports us.
"We're doing a group project on a pattern mural with paints, but we can't decide on what patterns will be good to use or not." Kimberly said.
"We need a third judge. Thankfully, you're here!" Abigail said.
"Well, I'm going to have a grade on this, so I must help!" I joked with them, making them laugh. We decided on a tie die like pattern and I went off to get some paint. I found the perfect shade of blue and reached for it, and my hand was suddenly caught my someone else's hand.
"Oh sorry!" The person exclaimed. I looked up to see a tall male, about my age, that was wearing a red and black checkered jacket with baggy pants. The style looked like as if it was natural on him as I looked into his brown eyes. "I'm Hunter Hughes by the way." He spoke with a Canadian accent, sounding a lot like mine.
"Sorry, didn't see you there. As what the teacher said earlier, I'm Nikki." I introduced myself. We both didn't take the paint as we looked at each other.
"Cool." He gave a big smile, showing all of his bright teeth that partially blinded me. "Nice to meet you."
"Nikki! Are you just going to stand there and flirt!" Abigail called out to me, making my cheeks turn dark pink.
"Or are you gonna help us?" Kimberly called out with Abigail, earning a fist bump from her.
I gave out a slight sigh. "Yeah I have to go help my friends, do you want to take the paint?"
Hunter looked over at his group, who got a bottle of blue before he did. "Nah, you take it. You're the lady and I'm the gentleman."
"Why thank you." I quickly went to my posh accent, which I usually do when I get nervous, similar to my dad's higher voice when he gets nervous. Hunter laughed and we both walked back to our tables, looking back at each other.
"Ah! I see you found the Canadians' son!" Abigail giggled, her voice beaming with glee.
"The who?" I asked.
