*Andy's POV*

"Alex!" I tore free from the dark shadows and helped the others get to their feet. "Alexandrite!" I exclaimed as we bolted down the hallway.

My hands gripped the corners as my feet scampered around the corner. "Andy! Look!" Jake said, his breath faltered as we sprinted down the last hallway towards the exit of the venue.

My eyes locked on Ryder, who was dragging Alex beside him. He kicked opened the door and ran out of the venue. Lightning crackled in the sky, illuminating the night sky. The door slammed shut, only to be opened by Jake's winds as we got closer.

My wings opened as the cool night air hit me like a brick wall. I watched as the guys raced in front of me, jumping into the air. After a couple of ups and downs we finally got the hang of take-off. We flew up above the venue, hovering in the dense fog.

"I don't see them." Jinx said, raising his voice only for it to be drowned out by the rumbling thunder.

My eyes scanned the sky, wings beating softly against the slight breeze. Rain started to fall as we all turned in a full circle. But still no glimpse of Ryder, or, more importantly Alexandrite. But I felt that they were near.

Following my instants, I pushed myself forward, my wings beating faster as I flew between the buildings.

"Andy, wait!" I heard CC exclaim, but I didn't bother slowing down.

My element filled me, preserving my strength as I tiled upward. I saw my reflection on the thousands of windows on a business building. In the crackling of the sky and the light of the lightning our reflections were haunting. It looked like we were shadows of the night, only the colors of our wings and eyes were visible. It was almost like we were looking at our shadow selves. Something darker and sinister.

I shook my head, pushing the haunting thought of the reflections and pushed myself, climbing higher in the air. Reaching the top of the building, my feet landed on the cement roof.

Spirit, don't let Andy fall to the dark side. Keep him strong, keep his mind filled with positive thoughts.

I bowed my head as her voice echoed in my mind, a tear slipping down my cheek. I have failed to protect the one who needed us the most. The feeling that I had faded and all I felt was emptiness.

"There is no use Andy." Jake said, I spun around and glared at him. Not believing that he would give up that easily.

"No use?! Jake, there has to be a way to find her!" The guys flinched at the loudness of my voice. I felt their fear rolling off of them, their sadness, but the small determination sparked a small flame.

Suddenly my mood change, determination and anger boiled my blood. I picked my head up and clenched my jaw. Narrowing my eyes at the bolt of lightning that crashed down on the river that seemed to be nearby.

"I will set you free, Alex. You have my word." I said. I was taken back a little bit by the hardness in my voice.

"No one, Angel or Human, no one gets left behind." Ashely said, taking a step forward.

"We will do everything in our power to help. By the Angel or God, you have our word that we will stand with you and we will bring back Alexandrite. You have our word." Jinx said, walking up and stopping in front of me. He bowed his head and then lifting it, his eyes stared into mine.

I turned back around and stared into the dense fog. It seemed to clear up a little bit, only to see some sparkling, bright stars. "You have our word. So, mote it be. We will find you, Alexandrite. Even if it kills us."

"So mote it be." The guys said and we took off, jumping from the ledge.

*Ryder's POV*

"Calm down my children." I said in a soothing voice as my tendrils wrapped around my arms. "We will get our revenge."

"Where did he go?" Alexandrite's voice whispered.

I glared at her, "What are you talking about?"

"My amazing brother who I looked up to. The one who taught me everything I know." Her eyes met mine and I saw her sadness.

"He is gone." I said, my wings quivered and the tendrils stirred restlessly.

"No he isn't." Alex pressed on.

I jumped up and threw the chair at the wall, breaking it into little pieces. "He is gone! He was betrayed by his father when his father casted him down from heaven. Your brother died when my love died for our family, when my father shunned me for lashing out of him when he declared you the next in line for the throne!"

"It was never my intention to take of our parent's place!" She lashed back. "You were just jealous that I am more powerful than you will ever be!"

I clenched my fists and ran my fingers through my hair, "Shut up." I growled.

"No I won't because it is the truth! You are weak and stubborn and that is not someone who will never be able to handle the pressure of taking our parent's place."

"Shut up!" I exclaimed throwing my hands out and my dark shadows flew towards her, wrapping around her tightly. "I am more powerful than you! You and your friends will be bowing down to me, even if you guys live that long." Lightning flashed around outside, that was the only thing that I didn't lose when I fell. My power of lightning.

I collapsed to the floor as pain shot through my head. Hot tears burned my cheeks as they cascaded down my face.

<Flashback>

"Father, please. I'm begging you, don't do this." I cried to him as walked up to me, disappointment was the only expression he wore.

"Ryder, you have displeased me. The threat to take me down will not go unpunished." My father said, his words were like knives cutting into my skin.

"Father stop!" I looked under his wing to see Alexandrite running towards us, her marks glowing brightly.

"Alexandrite, stay out of this." Father simply said, closing his wing to block my view of my little sister. He kept his back to her.

"You  punish him, you'll have to punish me too." Alex said, her voice was stern.

"I will not punish my only daughter, I will punish the shame of a son who declared to challenge me." His back straightened and he motioned me to stand.

My body obeying his command, I was on my feet and my chin was held high. That was the moment I heard the whispers of a greater leader.

My son, you are far too powerful to be shamed. Stick with me and I will make sure you have the one thing you desire.

I didn't flinch when the dark shadows appeared, wrapping around my legs. I saw my father's eyes widen and he stepped back, his face drained of color. Then he regained his composure, narrowing his eyes at me.

"From the power of the great Angel, I hereby banish Ryder from entering the otherworld. May his soul roam the modern world for the rest of his lives."

I took a step forward, then the next thing I knew I was falling. My wings gave out and I was freefalling. Lightning flashed all around me, and I felt my love fade. Anger boiled my blood and I saw my wings start to change color.

Black feathers appeared over my shoulder and I let out a scream that could have been heard around the world, from heavens above and hell down below. Then my body met the roof of a building. Pain shot through my shoulder blades as my back hit the gravel.

I stared up at the night sky, feeling nothing but pure hatred. "I vow that I will destroy all the good in the world and I will take my rightful place on that throne."
