I walked in, looking from side to side in the center of the city. It was huge, and something very big was happening.
Everyone was boasting of how some "nuisance" was gone. Half of them had to be drunk. I could smell most of their whiskey-tainted breaths from a mile away.
I suddenly heard a ding noise, which came from an escalated pedestal. It was the general, who was tapping his fork to his wine glass. He gained their attention. I paused, watching with concentrated eyes.
"Everyone... we have succeeded in our mission, for this we celebrate. And here... we start a new era!" Many people shouted and screeched in excitement. I looked at one of the fellow soldiers, urging in with his group.
"Er, sorry, my ears must've been plugged... What did we do exactly?" One soldier looked at me, seeming to be shocked. "You don't know? We killed their skillful leader, and now, the rest of them will fall easy!"
I dropped my eyebrows in confusion and annoyance of his ignorance.
"Ok... Follow-up question. What in the world makes you think the rest of America will crumble? And that anyone will fall 'easily'?"
He raised his eyebrows, supposedly surprised by my question. "Well, it's just in their nature."
That made me grid my teeth. That offended me. We weren't helpless animal crawling into those box crates that took you to hell knows where, to be killed, taxidermed and stuffed up in someone's house. We would not fall, I knew that. The army would surely get thing under control... Right?
However, I couldn't say much to protest against a stupid soldier, who seem to know nothing about America. Sure he knew lies.
However, the general was another situation. I knew that he was very aware of our strength, and was just being ignorant and pleasing the crowd. I knew the crowd would be fickle enough for me to persuade. Maybe I could get them off our land.
So, As much trouble as it would cause me, I began to plot my speech.
"What's our next plan?" One soldier asked farther off. The general seemed to smirk, already having planned raids.
"We take out the army next. Then the easy part comes."
I stood a little higher, getting myself ready to protest. "Excuse me? May I ask you a question?"
I got the whole crowds attention, even the intoxicated. This made me slightly nervous, but I shook it off, knowing my sense of pride will grow brighter anyway.
"What makes you think that the American citizens won't be ready? What if they were on their way right now to take all of you out?"
The soldiers, in the grasp of my attention, gasped, looking and murmuring to one another in shock, knowing I had a point.
The general's eyes widened and his eyebrows rose. Had he noticed me, I wondered.
I made my way to the pedestal, brushing the general away. "Move over a bit, baldy." I grabbed the microphone, imagining myself singing by talking. The words would flow out like a song.
"I mean, this is America we're talking about. The place that we've supposedly been afraid of for how long?" I came up with an excuse for my accusation. "Said one American I spilled..."
They all began focusing their attention to me again. The general looked up at me, half angry, half shocked. I knew I was totally screwing over his plan. But I continued.
"And even if we got as far as destroying their army... the citizens will be ready. They'll be ready for us to pound their door down and they'll be pointing their steel ends where? Right at us." The soldiers had now grouped in front of me.
I began to question why I was saying this, giving away all of these facts, when I realized I had expected them to know this.
The general looked at me wide eyed. "How do you know this, soldier?" I smirked, putting my hands behind my back.
"American knowledge. You have to know your enemy to win." He smirked, and I felt myself to be confused. "Is that so?"
Suddenly, I realized it was a trap.
I felt one soldier grabbed my arms from behind. I remembered that I had snapped Yoyo up behind a plant, where no one had seen him. I grinned.
"Oh, I don't think so!" I shot my head at the pot and proceed to whistle.
Yoyo sprang from behind the plant, ripping away from the simple chain easily. He jumped far from the plant and went straight for the soldier's leg, crunching the bone loud enough for the entire crowd to hear. The man screamed, releasing me.
I bounced away from him, pulling my pistol out and pointing it at the soldiers. The others, being shocked, backed away. I jumped down, running as Yoyo tackled anyone who try to grab me.
I screamed as I felt a sharp strike to my side, but I kept running. I heard Yoyo whimper as we were running, but didn't stop, no matter how bad the pain got.
I made a sharp turn, hiding behind large trees as they ran straight. I breathed hard, touching my side revealing I was bleeding. I gasped lightly, but covered my mouth.
I released my cats, putting the bag around Waffle's neck. "Go finish what we started." I huffed, and they responded with a nod.
I snapped two tracking collars around their neck and they ran off back to the center.
I felt my body temperature rise, and felt like I would black out. Yoyo whimpered, licking my hand and gently biting it and moving me, refusing to leave me alone.
I suddenly spotted a cooler and made my way to it, opening it and finding that there was a simple soda inside.
I blinked, picked it up and popped the can. "Well its not water but-" I chugged it down, and suddenly felt a wave of energy fly over me.
I touched the tracking device. "Waffle, there's a cooler here, so put the food in the cooler and hide it. I'll come back for it later." I heard a meow in response.
I suddenly ran fast, probably the fastest I had run since I was younger. Yoyo kept my speed, until I came to a fork. I decided to take the left road, sprinting through the trees.
When I made it through them, I realized that the soldiers had spotted me, and they chased after me.
I ran, my eyes squinting with the cold icy wind blowing in my face. I finally made my way to the house. I slammed the door behind me.
"WE GOTTA GO!!" Mom looked up, standing quickly. "What's going on?" I looked back.
"It's a long story, but as Paul Revere once said, the British are coming!!" Dad turned to me quickly, glaring. "What?! What did you do?!" I looked at him with concern. "It doesn't matter now! We have to go!!"
Mom pulled out her pistol. "I'll take care of them."
I looked at her with worry and shock. "Are you crazy?!?! There's way too many for us to take on!!" My mother pushed me to the side. "Want a bet?" I gasped, grabbing my side. It was then that my parents realized the severity if the situation. Yoyo whimpered once again, licking my hand. If I didn't get some kind of medication I was going to die right here. And I wasn't for that shit.
I grabbed important items, mainly weapons, shoving them into a basket. My parents grabbed clothes and collars. We had no chance to grab our food.
I opened the back door. "Come on!!!" Sunshine and Trinity rushed out, Mom was carrying the basket, Dad followed her, with me behind.
My dad turned around several times, shooting down soldiers that got too close.
I hissed under my breath. "Okay I'm ending this shit right now." I grabbed a match from my bag.
"Y'all keep running!"
I quickly lit the match with the box, and grabbed my slingshot from my hood. I shot it at the house, setting it on fire, watching at the land around it engulfed in flames. I had used pretty good matches.
The Brits were cut off for now. I began to run, but tripped, and found myself bent over in pain on the ground. I felt the warm liquid of blood gently stream from my mouth. The world around me was blurry.
The last thing I saw was my dad grabbing me and saying, "We have to go ho..." I lost hearing then. My vision finally darkened and I passed out.
