Steve's P.O.V.

Everything about that damned woman infuriated me. How she acted like she owned the place, bossing everyone around. Whenever my eyes landed on her, a fire of rage and fury ignited inside me.

But I kept my mouth shut on that matter. I mean, she is basically saving my life.

Danny and I sat together on a couch, inside the safe house those S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had taken me. I could tell there were many thoughts plaguing Danny's mind. "What's up?" I asked, turning slightly to face him. I grimaced in pain, the pain that radiated from the stab wound I received.

"Nothing. Nothing's up but the sky." I rolled my eyes, a humorless chuckle escaping my lips. "Danny, you and I both know that I know you better than anyone." I gave him a pointed look, earning me that infamous Williams glare.

He shrugged, "Doesn't she seem a bit, I don't know, off?" I gave him a puzzled look, perplexed as he seemed eager for her help.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, I know that S.H.I.E.L.D. does things a little differently than us, but this seems like, I don't know, a little crazy?" Danny sighed, hands kneading his temples in frustration.

I kept silent, my eyes roaming my surrounds aimlessly as Danny's words sunk in. "I think we should confront her." Danny gave me a bewildered look, "what? No, absolutely not. She's saving your life for god sake!"

Just at that moment, as if the universe was sending us a sign, in walked the aforementioned agent. Bella walked in confidently - something I realized was around her, confidence -, and flipped through papers left there from one of the agents from her team.

In the background, I could faintly hear Danny conversing quietly about his children, or was it his ex-wife? I wasn't sure because my attention was solely focused on the exquisite S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Her tousled black locks were left open, wild strands untamed as they caught onto the bright sun rays, a shimmering halo around her.

Her beauty was different - Bella did not have that classical beauty, no flowing blonde curls or striking blue eyes. She was shorter than average, her head almost reaching my shoulders - something I find endearing. With hair as dark as chocolate, and eyes the color of the green forest after a storm has hit, her beauty was enticing. Something radiated from within that rendered her irresistible.

She was the kind of girl that women loved to hate.

She had that movie star look, not overly tall and willowy, but more like an action star. Her muscle definition was perfect and she walked with the confidence of someone a decade older. She wasn't just flawless in her bone structure, her skin was like silk over glass and she radiated an intelligent beauty.

While I was world's away, I hadn't realized that Danny had stopped talking - shocking - and that Bella had -might have- caught me staring. she glanced towards me, a smirk appeared on the porcelain-like face. The agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. grabbed something from the table in front of her.

She threw the object towards me, and with my fast Navy SEAL reflexes, caught it before it could wound me. I glared at her after composing myself. A light-hearted laugh escaped her plump, pink lips and that was possibly the most delightful sound I've heard in so long.
