Why We Do The Things We Do

Sam ...

What really made us at our happiest, would be the smiles, the laughter, and quietness that had been surrounding us for the past couple of weeks. Knowing that Kaya hadn't bothered us, made my mind clear.

But something told me that it wasn't meant to last long.

I glanced out the back window mindlessly, and had taken in a whiff of what had been Kaya racing around the house. Her sweetening scent burned my nose, and the disappointment sunk into my mood.

And for the moment, everything went quiet around me while everyone else were handing and tossing each other rolls and muffins. That moment it went quiet, was another moment that had me wanting to jump out of my seat and taking her down for invading the peace I had been in for the past couple of weeks.

When the door slammed open, she had been standing with a stance of a fighter, and she looked worn down for the first time ever. That means that she had just encountered someone as dangerous as she is.

"Who in the hellis Bella Swan, and what the fuck is the red head named Victoria?" She asked in a low deel groan as her eyes glazed over with a questioning look through her eyelashes. She was obviously in no type of mood to discuss any other matters than into the ones we were dealing with.

And her knowing about Bella and the red headed leech, it gave us a bigger problem.

"Bella, is a friend to us Quileutes, why does it concern you?" I asked as if she had been a complete stranger and that who we have as friends, shouldn't be any of her damn business.

"It is my concern; because some crazy immortal bitch has something big planned, and she's planning on killing everyone of you bleep-tards. So how about you get your head out of your ass Sam, and address the real issue here." She took charge as she trailed closer and closer to me, which made me incredibly uncomfortable.

"And tell me Kaya; what's the real issue here?" I questioned boldly, but I could see that she wasn't moved. She must see me as a joke, because obviously I am one to her. Or if I wasn't, then I should be.

"The real issue is, is that you think you have everything under control, when in reality, it's everything but that. Maybe if you took the time to train your pack, other than going on runs every other hour, then you would be prepared for the bitch." She took a seat in the chair, freely sitting across from me, leaning back, and somehow making a joke out of me. And I wasn't just taking anything in.  I was just thinking of how she could be so far out of her league, and yet think she's in charge.

I just didn't get it.

"Oh; but what do I know? I'm just an alpha, who runs faster, changes quicker, and is stronger than my older brother. But of course I have no idea what I'm talking about."

She's flattering herself.

"I think it's time for you to leave. I don't know why you came here, because quite frankly I don't give a damn, about your opinion involving my pack, or who associates with them. I don't care that you think it's okay to walk into my house damanding answers, and trying to give advice." I suddenly became so heated in the matter of minutes, that I hadn't noticed that I'd been standing, that my knuckles had turned white from tensing up my hands for too long. And that the air around me had became so still, dust particles wouldn't move.

Kaya is really starting to get to me.

And Kaya, who'd been staring at me as if she'd been in deep thought, was contemplating something within her unknown mind. I could tell because of the way her eyebrows creased deeply, and how her lips would move directly to one side, where she sucked on the inside of her cheek, also making it sink into a dimple.
