Screaming, I feel all the breath escaping my lungs and I can't see. The pressure on my face is getting to be too much. Laughter is muffled and I flail my arms and legs but they are soon trapped by something or someone. Tears stream down my face and I soon come to terms that they aren't going to let go, whoever they are.
Abruptly, the thing that was covering my face is lifted up and Jack is the first thing I see. His girlfriend sits next to him, Alexa, and I lay there with tears in my eyes.
"What the hell?! What is wrong with you?!" I squeak out and wipe the tears from my eyes. Standing up, I feel dizzy because I got up too quickly and regain my balance. Holding my hands to my head, I try to suppress the headache that's there.
"It was just a joke. We were messing around!" Jack says and stands up to walk over to me. He turns and faces me and I glare at him and twist my face.
"A joke?! You call that a joke?! I could've died! You almost killed me you jackass! And you say it's a joke?!" I scream and he just laughs nervously.
"God, take a joke, Jade." He says and I'm done. Reeling my hand back, a ball my hand into a fist and slam it into his cheek. Pain shoots up my fist and Jack doubles back from the hit. Alexa looks at me in shock and then helps Jack regain his balance.
"Don't. Ever. Touch. Me. Again. Do you hear me?" I say and they stand dumbfounded.
"I said, do you hear me?!" I scream and they nod. Alexa rushes to grab her bag and phone and skurts the hell outta there. Skurt skurt.
Glaring at Jack, he looks at me with that same shocked expression and gets up to look me right in the eyes.
"You're crazy." He mutters and walks away, holding his cheek, trying to stop the blood from coming out. I grab my bag and phone and stomp out the front door. I run out the front of the school and stop when I reach the curb. Slumping, I sit down on the curb and put my face in my hands. Tears slip down my face again as I realize how quickly everything happened. That was so random!!
Whipping out my phone, I call my brother. He picks up after the second ring and sounds out of breath.
"Hello?" He asks and I gag.
"Ew. You're not-" I say and he replies quickly.
"What? No! I was working out." He says and laughs.
"Umm. I think I'm going crazy." I say and I hear the confusion in his voice.
"What makes you say that?" He says and I try not to cry again.
"Because my roommate, Jack, just tried to kill me! He almost suffocated me with a pillow and I almost died! I think I'm losing my mind! I punched him in the face, James!" I say and all the tears well up and come out again. What is wrong with me today?
"Wait, who did you say that suffocated you?" He asks as if he know that person.
"What? Oh, Jack. Why? Do you know him from somewhere?" I ask and the line goes dead. Confused, I lock my phone and put it into my bag. Sniffling, I wipe away my tears with my sleeve and go back into the school and up to my dorm. It's the only place I have left.
Trudging up the stairs, I throw myself on my bed when I reach my destination. Staring up at the ceiling, I go through everything that happened today; I almost died, I went on my first date and my brother knew my roommate. What a crazy day.
Flicking off (not the middle finger) the light, I face the wall and try to fall asleep, with the fear of never waking up again, still haunting me.
