The Heart Game Chapter 4 Happy New Year

- Los Angeles, 'on the way to 2011'

"Chris! Have you prepared everything?" Ren shouted, "everyone will be here in a few minutes. Make sure that everything is perfect."

"Well, Aria is preparing the grill. While I'm just chilling watching movies!" he shouted back.

Aria giggled. Chris was just trying to drive Ren crazy. He was preparing the steaks.

"Aria, watch this," Chris said, playfully, "Ren will show up in 5,4,3,2,-"

"Chris! What are you-"

Aria and Chris burst out laughing.

Aria looked at her watch, "Chill out Ren, we still have 15 minutes and the guests are your own friends." She cleaned her hand by patting it with the other.

"And don't forget girlfriend," Chris added, giving Aria a wink.

Aria winked back, "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys, Kate told me she's going to her grandma's house this year so she won't make it."

"Well, what do you know," Ren sighed, sounded a little disappointed, "but still, our friends are still coming." He stood up and walked gloomy to the backyard.

"He's definitely disappointed," Chris gave Aria a high five, "but wait, are you okay getting involved with this kind of plan? I thought you liked Ren."

"Don't worry it's been almost half of a year. I got over it." Aria said, sheepishly.

Chris scrunched his face, "You sure?"

"100 percent," Aria nodded in determination.

"Good then," Chris blushed, "then is it okay for me to like you?" he asked without taking his eyes off the steak.

She was quite surprised by his words, "No."

"What?!"

"I don't wanna be liked by a stupid playboy like you," Aria crossed her arms.

"C'mon, I've never been serious about a girl before. I'm serious about you and-"

"And I promise that I'd love you with all my heart. I'll forget all the other girls just for you," Aria continued.

"How do you-"

"Are you dumb? You're using the exact same words like when you're confessing to every girl in high school."

"Aria!" Chris laughed, "hey!"

"It's called a hustle sweetheart," she smiled and walked to the backyard.

Chris was left in wonder. Aria was different. She was everything he ever wanted. He wanted her with all his heart. And he's ready to lose everything for her.

"Awesome party you got here," Kate suddenly appeared, grinning at Ren.

"Kate! Why are you here?" Ren exclaimed and hugged her.

"Let go of me first so I can explain," Kate grinned but eventually she hugged him back, "lets just say me and Chris and Aria are a team."

"You guys tricked me?" he said and laughed, "God, I already lost my spirits when they told me you wasn't coming."

"Aw, you're so sweet," she hugged Ren tightly.

They grilled a lot of things that night. And also drank a lot of alcohol. Most people already passed out even before midnight.

"You haven't passed out?" Chris said when he saw Aria walked to him and sat beside him.

"It's not midnight yet. I need to watch the fireworks. It must be amazing as heeeellll."
