"Vanessa, Bella's missing." Dad says, shaking me awake. "Sam Uley from La Push is checking the woods, Harry Clearwater and myself are checking a map."

"I'll get dressed." I say, half asleep but awake.

I put in some skinny jeans, some cute shoes, a brown cropped tank top, and a brown cardigan. I brush my hair before going outside, where it is freezing cold and drizzling rain. I walk and stand on the other side of my dad, he introduces me to Harry.

"Found her!" We hear a voice.

I run over to the man and Bella. "Thank you sooo much, I don't know your name."

Dad grabs Bella and carries her home.

"I am Sam Uley." The guy says, he is smiling down at me and looking me in my eyes. "And you are?"

"I'm Vanessa Bernice Swan." I say. "Bella is my half sister, and Charlie is my father."

"It's nice to meet you, Vanessa." Sam says. "I'll see you around. Come visit me sometime. Billy knows where I live."

I smile before he walks back through the woods. La Push isn't too far from Forks. A person could possibly go through the woods. I smile, Sam is very attractive.

"I'm glad she's okay." Billy says. "Thank goodness for Sam."

A smile finds my face. "Yeah, thank goodness for Sam."

Billy smirks up at me before making Jacob push his chair inside. I am going to visit Sam. I go inside, and I get his address off of Billy. Jacob tosses me to the key to his older car, he built himself.

Sam's house is surrounded in the beautiful scenery of nature. He is sitting on the porch with a woman who looks to be his sister. I get out, and Sam's eyes brighten.

"Vanessa, this is my sister Emily." Sam says as I reach the porch. "I see you got wheee I lived off Billy."

"Harry gave it to me before Billy could speak, but yes, I found where you live at, Sam." I say.

"I call him Samuel or Sammy." Emily says jokingly. "He hates it."

"Awe, Sammy." I coo.

"Oh, not you too!" He groans and goes inside.

Emily invites me inside and leads me to the couch. Sam is grabbing me a soda while I chat away with miss Emily Uley. Emily is so very kind. She is engaged, and is preparing to move out soon. Her fiancée is Jack Parker. He is a real estate agent in Port Angeles.

"It will me different without Sam around." Emily says. "Promise you will keep him happy?"

"I will." I promise. "I promise , I will."

We talk some more until Jacob texts me, saying Billy is tired. I hug Emily and Sam, then I go outside to Jacob's car. I need a car for myself.

Jacob helps Billy in the car before I even get out. Billy apologizes, but I just push it aside. I give Jacob his key before going inside. Bella has depression now. She hasn't moved since dad brought her inside.

I kiss her head before going downstairs again. I fix dad and myself some chicken Alfredo, homemade noodles, and some Caesar salads for supper.

"Yum, I guess Claire taught you to cook?" Dad guesses.

I smile. "Yes, she taught me a lot of things before she was diagnosed."

I wash up the dishes while dad gets ready for a night shift at the station. I dry and out he dishes away, then I climb the stairs to my room. I lock my door behind me and I change into a batman footie pajama set.

I sit at my computer and I open up email. I decide to email Garland.

Hey Garland, it's Nessa! Just wanted to say it has been a long three days. Bella turned 18. Her boyfriend has left with his family. Bella was diagnosed with depression. I am missing Pennsylvania more and more every day. I am, however, glad to be here in Forks. I met an attractive guy, Samuel Uley. He lives in La Push, across the river. Annuyways, I have to go. Email me back as soon as you get free time Garland. Thanks for everything, step dad.

I close out of email and I lay in my bed. I close my eyes, and I dream about Sam when I fall asleep.
