I get dressed in tights, a blue galaxy skirt, a black cropped top, and some black sandals. I straighten my hair and I go downstairs.
"Dad?!" I call.
"In the kitchen!" He calls back.
"Dad, I need to talk to you." I say softly.
Dad sets his newspaper and coffee down. "I never like hearing a conversation beginning with those words."
"I wanna get my own place." I say.
Dad smiles. "You should. You're twentieth birthday is coming up, you should be on your own."
"I know, dad." I say with a smile.
"Where are you going to look?" Dad asks genuinely.
I am so glad he understands. "La Push. There is an empty house across the street from Jacob's. A two bedroom, white home."
"Billy will love having you that close." Dad jokes. "I'll be seeing you too. I visit Billy every so often as well."
I grin. "I better go. I'm meeting the landlord soon."
"Drive safe, baby." Dad says.
Dad gives me a big hug, and he kisses my head. I walk outside and I get into my truck.
The house I found empty is right across from Billy and Jacobs house. It is a one floor, two bedroom house. It is white in color, and the roof is black. The door is black as well.
Billy is on his porch, and the landlord is parked in the driveway when I arrive. I get out of my truck and I shake the man's hand.
"Let me show you the house, young lady." Gus, the house owner, says. "It is a beautiful property."
"How much is the rent, Gus?" I ask.
"Rent free honey." Gus says with a huge grin. "All I ask is you take care of the place."
"I'll take it, Gus." I smile. "Thank you."
He hands me the key. "You're good to move in."
Gus leaves and I walk across the street.
"Jacob!" I yell, Billy laughs.
"Hey, Vani!" Jacob greets me. "Did you get that house?"
I nod. "I need living room furniture."
"I know where to get some." Jacob says. "I will help you move. Let's get busy, Swan."
I get behind the wheel of my truck, and Jacob gets into the passenger's seat. I drive us to Forks, to dad's house. We walk inside and dad lights up seeing Jacob.
"Hey, Jacob." Dad greets.
"I am helping Vanessa move." Jacob smiles at me. "We better get busy, we want to finish before dark."
That is when Bella walks in, with Edward.
"Edward, wanna help me move Vanessa's bedroom furniture to her truck?" Jacob asks.
"Of course." Edward says.
"Vani, you're moving out?" Bella gasps.
I nod. "Right across the street from Jacob, in La Push."
"You won't be too awful far." Bella smiles. "You'll be on your own, finally."
"I know." I smile. "I'm excited."
Jacob and Edward begin with my dresser. The dresser is most likely the heaviest thing in my room. They pretend to struggle where dad is here, and they lug it outside to m truck.
Bella and I sit on her tailgate as the guys load tiny stuff on my truck. Bella offers to drive my class on the back of her truck, and I agree instantly. We walk upstairs, and we pack all my clothes, this time I am not moving far away. I am across the river.
I get in my truck with Jacob, and Bella gets into hers. Due to the treaty, Edward won't help in La Push.
Turns out, Jacob cannot help me unpack. He has patrol, damn you attractive, perfect Sam. I grab my cellphone and I dial Jared's number.
"Hello?" A girl answers.
"Hi, I am a friend of Jared's, I was wanting know of he can help me move my stuff inside my new house?" I ask. "You can come too. I wanna meet my friends girlfriend."
She giggles. "Okay, I'll go tell him. I'm Kim, by the way. Give me a minute, I'll get Jared."
I sit on the hood of Bella's truck. I will have to send Paul and Jared after living room furniture, and a television.
"I'll help." Jared says through the speaker, startling me. "Call Paul, tell him to help."
I wait for a moment after Jared hangs up before I dial Paul's number. Paul is okay, i hope he doesn't lose his temper when I am close.
"Yo, Vani." Paul greets, and I hear Rachel shout hey. "What's up?"
"Jared and Kim are on their way to my new place, wanna help move my stuff in?" I ask.
"Yup." He says, and Rachel asks him something. "Rachel wants to know if she can come."
"Of course she can." I reply. "The more girls the merrier."
"That sounded way sexier than I'd hoped." Paul grumbles, and Rachel laughs in the background.
"I'll see you in a bit, Paul." I say before hanging up. "Paul's a flirt. Rachel finds it funny, as do I."
Bella smiles at me and Jared pulls up. Kim gets out and hugs me in greeting.
"You are gorgeous!" She compliments. "Which guy do you have it on for?"
I blush. "I like Sam."
"Big bad alpha, nice." Kim teases.
Paul and Rachel show up soon enough. Rachel hugs me first, then she greets Bella and Kim. Rachel, Bella, Kim, and I go inside and I show them all around. The boys set my bedroom up the way I want it.
"Boys, can you run and get me some living room furniture?" I ask, handing them a wad of money. "There is a furniture store in Port Angeles. We will clean up a bit here."
---
The boys make it back wth the living room and dining room furniture right we us girls finish cleaning up; and it is already dark outside.
"Can we all catch here?" Paul asks. "Moving this stuff has wore me out."
"Yeah." I reply. "It is a good thing we made the other room the guest room. One couple gets that, and the other on the pull out couch."
"Kim and I will take the couch." Jared says. "Paul and Rachel, you can have the bed."
"It's settled." I clap. "Goodnight, boys and girls."
I go to my room and I change into a baby blue pajama set. I crawl under my blankets and I drift off to sleep.
