P.s. I chose I can't be tamed, because Arin's a mean girl, and it's somewhat her personality.

PROLOGUE- CRASHING DOWN.

Isn’t it funny how one minute you can be on top of the world, and then you just come crashing down with no one to catch you? That’s how I felt. I used to be the most popular girl in school; I was captain of the dance team, on the drama club, and president of student council, the list goes on, and on. Everyone was waiting on me hand, and foot, some people hated me, others adored me, but overall everyone obeyed, and respected me. I was just that type of girl that had so much power over the school. I admit I overused it a lot. I was a jerk, correction beyond jerk, and I went as far as betraying my best friend since middle school. I was spoiled rotten, thanks to my parents; not a day goes by that I don’t miss them.  Even when I was a total jerk my parents always came first. It feels as though my life has ended, and I’ve come crashing down to a harsh reality. There is no such thing as true loves kisses, and living happily ever after, and most of all second chances.

The day began like any other day; my mother came in the room to wake me up. “Despierte Mija.”  My mother said in an all too cheery voice, it’s a friggin’ Monday for crying out loud! That’s what I loved about my mother though, she was always so positive, she could cheer you up in a minute.  I groaned into my pillow, “5 more minutes.” I begged. I heard the silent footsteps as my mom walked out the room, and quietly shut my door.

Five minutes soon turned into forty, and I was rushing, multi-tasking to the max. I brushed my teeth while I was in the shower, and threw on my shoes as I pinned my hair up. I just needed one more thing, where was it? I searched frantically for my necklace. It wasn’t in my music box, or on my nightstand. I couldn’t lose that necklace; it meant more to me than my pink leather Jimmy Choo handbag. Daddy got it for me on my quincenera. It was stunning, made of pure sterling silver, and had a heart shaped locket on it with tiny green emeralds that brought out the green in my hazel eyes. I always wore it, “Looking for this.” Mom said from the door frame the tiny sliver chain hanging from her pinky finger. “Thanks Mom.” I gave her a kiss on the cheek, and stuffed the necklace in my True religion jean pocket, I’d put it on later in the car.

I walked; more like ran down the steps almost tripping twice. Dad handed me a plate of bacon, and some orange juice, “Thanks Daddy.” I gave him a kiss on the cheek also. “Have a great day at school Arin.” My father who now had his arms wrapped around my mother said. I blew them a kiss, and rushed out the door. I was, say about four minutes late, I started my car. This car was my baby I also got her on my quincenera, a steel blue mustang; I smiled as she roared to life. I pulled out my phone, and pressed Siri, “Text Ally I’ll be late, as usual.” I pressed send. My parents didn’t like me texting and driving, so they got me an Iphone 4s.

Mornings were hectic in the De La Rosa household, but as crazy as it seemed it all worked out perfectly. The De la Rosas were weird like that, they may not have it all together, but together they had it all, and we were perfectly fine with that. On my way to school I bought two lattes from Starbucks, and in ten minutes I arrived at school. I parked the car in my usual spot that no one dared to ever park in. I strutted into the brown building the heels on my gray ankle boots clicking with each step.

The hallways were empty as they always were. I walked into my trig class. Yes, math in the morning, such a bore, I know, but oh well. Before my teacher could say anything I placed the latte on his desk, “Oh, thank you Arin.” He smiled, and took a sip, “Mmmm my favorite, bonus points on the next quiz for you, now class you could all learn something from Ms. De la Rosa.” Mr. Banks said taking another sip, not even mentioning how I was at least twenty minutes late. “Nice one.” Ally, my bff, said high-fiving me. “What can I say, I am the best.” I said in an all-too-full-of-myself voice.

“Don’t look now, but Josh is like staring at you.” Ally tilted her shiny red head to the left. I followed it to Josh who in turn turned his head in embarrassment. Awww too cute, too bad I was already taken. Yep, 1 year and 6 months with Ian my sweetheart. A clichéd hook-up, I was head cheerleader, and he was the star quarter back of the football team. When Ian Sanders noticed me that day my heart pounded in my chest, I’m sure he’s the one.

The rest of the day slowly flew by; I was in my car headed home. I saw a crow land in a tree, and my hand instantly flew to my necklace, I have no idea why. I shook my head continuing my drive home, one hand on the steering wheel, the other on my heart necklace.  I pulled up in the driveway, my parents cars weren’t there, major shocker! I pulled into the garage, and walked into the house, I saw a note on the refrigerator, “Sorry for the unexpected leave Mija. Your aunt came down to visit, how exciting is that?  Went to a party with your father and Aunt Maria. Love, your too awesome to be a mother, Mother.” I could basically hear Mother’s Spanish accent right in ear. I rolled my eyes at the last part; I definitely got my pride from Mother.

I wasn’t mad that they left, they needed to have fun, and I needed to party. I jumped on my bed as I dialed up Ally’s number, “Hey didn’t Demy say she was having a party?” I asked. “Yeah, we should totally go, I heard her brothers bringing wine coolers.”  Ally squealed; she was in love with Demy’s brother Remmey. Demy, and Remmey, get it, no okay.  “Okay I’ll be at your house to pick you up at say around 9?” I suggested, “Nines good, now get ready it’s already seven.” I hung up the phone. Wow it was seven already? We were talking on the phone that long; I shook my head trying to shake the idea out. I put on a gray sequined babydoll top, gray skinny jeans, and yellow heels with yellow accessories, don’t forget gloss, and makeup. “Perfect.” I said with a smirk, I kissed my mirror, and placed it in my pocket.

*at the party*

The music drummed in my ears, a red cup was in my hand. “Hey, could you introduce me to your friend?” Some freshman asked nodding his head towards Ally. I laughed in his face then, poured my cup on him, “Beat it loser.” I said obnoxiously. He hung his head in shame, and walked off, a girl came up to me, “That was my brother you freak!” She shrieked, I tapped my chin unphased by her outburst, “In that case, take this.” I poured more beer on her, “Because you’re a freshman, and new to this school take this as a warning, I run this place get in my way, and I’ll squish you like a bug.” I flung the cup in her face, and rolled my eyes walking off the dance floor. Ugh I just hated those who tried to stand up. I mean really they should know their place.

I began to feel tired so I’d just go home, it was like 1 in the morning, and I had school tomorrow. Ha, yeah right as if I cared, but I did need my beauty rest. I walked outside, and dialed up my dad. He always told me to never drive home drunk, or when I had a sip of alcohol if I was ever intoxicated I should call him. Unfortunately, he didn’t answer this time. Odd Dad usually kept his phone on him. I guess I’d just drive home on my own.

When I pulled up to my house I saw red, and blue lights flashing, and some woman who looked like she was crying. My parent’s car wasn’t there, they usually weren’t night owls. I stopped the car, and climbed out, “Hey what are you doing here? This is private property!” I shouted. “Ma’am are you intoxicated?” One police officer asked flashing a light in my face; I grabbed it from his hand and threw it on the ground. “Shut up, and tell me what’s going on!” I raised my voice again. “Oh Arin honey.” The woman tried grabbing my arm, but I yanked away. “Who are,” I paused, and examined the woman “Aunt Maria?” It looked just like the woman from the pictures it had to be her. She just nodded, “They’re, they’re...” She couldn’t utter the words out, she took a deep breath, but I already knew what she was going to say.

“No, no, NO THIS IS NOT HAPPENING! It’s the alcohol, wake up! Wake up, wake up.” Tears streamed down my face, as I tried forcing myself to wake up. This had to be a dream, but it wasn’t, it was reality. Aunt Maria hugged me tightly as I sobbed into her shoulder. I backed away from her; this wasn’t happening. My aunt’s sad face was the last thing I saw before I passed out. Everything went dark, as I was engulfed by the velvety black silence.
