There was a knock on the door, "Arin! Get your butt down here, or we're going to be late!" Zoe shouted. "Okay almost done." I grabbed my shoes, and put the right on the left, and the left on the right. Hey that's not right. I tried switching them while I was going down the steps, and ended up tumbling all the way down. Before I could faceplant the floor Jason caught me in his strong arms.
"You always were a bit clumsy Arin." Jason said holding me up. "I was not!" I denied. Jason gave me a really look, and turned to Zoe, "when we were in 7th grade we decided to go to a dance, and this one here kept stepping on her own feet." Jason told her laughing. "Hey I wasn't the best dancer then." I defened folding my arms over my chest. "We were even dancing at the time Arin." Jason said. "Psh, what.." I began protesting trying to find something to say. I gave up, "And your point." I said crossing my arms over my chest.
"Yea well the point is you were really clumsy." Jason said shuffling us through the door, and to his car. "I'm not anymore, and I'm a way better dancer now." I said. "Sure." Jason said sarcastically. "I'll prove it the Winter Formal is coming up, you, me, and a little dancing. What do you say?' I asked. "It's a date." He said with a peck on the cheek before sliding into the front seat.
"You call that a kiss?" I kissed him one, two, three times, each one better than the next. Zoe began making gagging noises. "Nice guys, real nice." Zoe said shaking her head. "If you don't like it then go ride with Michael." I teased wagging my eyebrows. Zoe blushed, and said nothing, "I knew it, you should totally ask him to the Winter Formal." I suggested. "Yea not gonna happen." Zoe said laughing. "Come on Zoe, it's pretty obvious you both like each other." I stated. "Then he should ask me." We arrived at the school, and just as we were getting out Michael came to whisk her away. I gave her a thumbs up, and told them to have fun while wagging my eyebrows. Zoe blushed, and gave me a I'm so gonna get you look.
Jason and I were walking down the clutstered hallway in a huge discussion of who was more creative Phineas, and Pherb, or the cute little Rugrats. I went with Rugrats, I mean come on it was a classic. "Aren't you a little too old for cartoons?" Claire said stepping in front of us. The weird thing is she was laughing, and didn't mean it in a rude way. Jason, and I shared a look, then looked at her.
"Can we talk?" Claire asked looking at me. Jason got defensive, "For what?" He asked. "No Jason it's okay." I said. He gave me a look asking if I was sure. "Yea I'll be fine." I assured him. He nodded, and walked off the class. "Look Arin the way I behaved was completely out of line, and I wanted to say I'm sorry. You were right I don't have a mind of my own, I'm always following after Auden." She broke into tears.
"There there." I said patting her head. This was awkward.... "Look Claire you're a smart girl if you put your mind to it, and you don't need Auden. I'll be your friend, and so will Zoe." I gave her a smile, and boy was that hard to do. I mean on one hand she did act like a canving brat. Then on the other it was sort of all Auden, plus she was in tears I had to help her out. My parents would want me to.
"Really?" She asked looking up through tears, her mascara running. "Of course." I said smiling. "Wow you're nothing like Auden said. You're actually nice." I gritted my teeth at the thought of Auden that brat! "Hey here's a tissue." I handed her one to wipe away her tears. "Now where's that famous Claire Linden smile." Claire smiled bright. "Thanks Arin." She sniffled. "No problem." I said. There was an awkward silence, and to top off the awkwardness Claire gave me a huge hug. Man this girl was tough to say she was scrawny. "Can't breathe." I said she let go of me, and I was left gasping for air.
"I'll see you later..Buddy." Claire siad smiling and walking off to class. I just stood there, 'okay what just happened?' I thought to myself. I shook my head, and walked off to class. So class not as boring as I thought it would be. Claire actually stayed true to her word, and wasn't a brat. After she apologized to Zoe things were smooth sailing. She was actually pretty cool, maybe a bit dramatic, but still cool.
So here I was in last class laying my head on the desk when a paper airplane made a home in my hair. I grabbed it, and looked at it then looked back at the sender. When I looked back his eyes went wide, and he made a little motion with his hand. "Huh?' I asked tilting my head in confusing. "Ehm, care to share?" I gulp, and look up at the teacher. My mouth is dry, and I can't say anything, so I just shake my head no. "Great then you'll stay after school today to help with Drama club." He said. "But.." I began to protest. "Wait, what's that, you want to be in the play? Sure okay." I shut my mouth. This dude is crazy! I slumped in my seat, and waited for class to end.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the next chapter I say we give her a leading role in the play which is a musical, or it could be a symphony? That's how we chould end the book! Oh can I write the last chapter? So did you like this chappie? Do you like that idea?
