Kath's pov

This can't be happening. I mean, it's sorta awesome. I'm a purple dragon, and I just roared, but still! I was a human. I am a human! How does one go from human to animated dragon over night? Because I've read a lot of things on the internet, and this stuff only happens in books and in fanfiction. And fanfiction is usually written by teenagers, and books by adults who have families and aren't hardcore wizards or something like that.

Okay, okay so I probably died in my sleep. Or went into a coma. Yes, that's most likely what happened. It's a bit horrifying to think about it, but there's no other real way for me to explain it. I'm in the body of a dragon, or I've turned into one. I'm not sure which. And I'm in a very familiar forest, one that I would recognize anywhere.

"Pf, no way." I snorted, falling back so I was sitting like a dog. I still don't know how to control this body. I'm like a newborn doe or something, only my legs aren't all that skinny, and I wasn't just bo- you get it. I don't know what to do now, and I don't know where I am. One thing that is clear to me is the fact that I'm in the Naruto forest. With huge trees, and with everything animated.

'Alright, okay. I need to calm my fourteen year old self down, and I need to think this all through. I'm in a new place, and I'm in a new body. So it makes clear sense to me that I should begin walking, just like any other character would in a story. Of course this isn't a story, but nobody wrote an official guide for this either. I don't really have a choice.

I got up slowly, or at least I tried too. It was like trying to walk on stilts for the first time. I stumbled about even though I hadn't even tried to take a step, and in the end I ended up on my back once more. I grimaced, staring at the sky. Everything was still so bright an loud. However, I am a dragon now, and I wouldn't expect a dragon to have average human sight and hearing. It would be amplified.

"Alright, I can do this." Even my voice sounded foreign in my own ears. Deciding to ignore it seeing as I couldn't really do anything about it, I tried to stand once more. And I did this time. I just sort of stood there, shifting my weight experimentally to try and keep my balance, and to get used to my new accommodation. It felt weird to feel the extra limbs. My snout, my weird floppy ears, my swishing tail, and my folded up wings that were probably bigger than they felt.

"Oh God, okay, deep breaths." I muttered to myself, staring down at me... paws. Claws? Hands? I don't know what they are. I like dragons, but I didn't study their anatomy or anything. I know the basics. I have wings, horns, a tail, four legs. You know, that sort of thing. And of course my horns. There's that too.

"Right. Okay, I need to walk. It's just walking. Like a dog, er, no more like a giant lizard. But with ear and horns and wings..." I trailed off. Right, I'm alone. I once read something about how people who talk to themselves are generally smarter than the average person. That fact is probably not true, but it totally boosts my self-esteem so I'm choosing to believe it.

"One, two, three." I counted before moving my left hand... paw forward. It wobbled, and as you may have already guessed, I fell. It wasn't as hard as the other falls, but it was a pretty nasty blow on my self confidence. I still have to keep trying though, no matter how downhearted I feel. I'm not going to sit here and starve. For a human it can take months to actually starve. I have a source of water. But for a dragon? Who knows how long I'd be suffering.

"Come on, Kath! You can do this." I encouraged myself as I struggled to my feet. I once again made it to a standing position only to fall once more. I scowled at myself. Why can't I just, you know, do this?! It's honestly beginning to piss me off quite a bit. I mean, it's not like I've never crawling on all fours before? How's this any different.

I stood up once more, just with more force. My entire balance teetered, so I spaced out my legs so they could support my much larger frame a little better. I took a deep breath. So far, so good. All I need to do is take one successful step without falling, and then I can at least tell myself I'm making some sort of progress.

"Step... one." I hissed out as I slid my paw across the ground. It feels like I'm playing twister. "Alright, now another." I made the mistake of moving my other front leg, which caused me to fall flat on my stomach. I sighed, my longer-than-average tongue flicking out. "So close." I muttered. I forget that four legged animals don't move the same as humans.

I stood up, this time with greater ease. I took my first step fairly smoothly, if you excuse the 'nearly tripping over air twice' part. I moved my left hind leg forward, and soon I found myself shuffling in small steps across the grass and towards the outer edges of the clearing I had appeared in. I felt myself grin.

"Progress!" I cheered, fist pumping. But of course I need that arm... leg to walk, and so I fell, because that's just the sort of person I am.

"Dammit."
