Gerard pouted from his seat in the back of the classroom. He hid himself from everyone else behind his dark gray sweatpants and sweatshirt. Gerard hated jeans. He refused to ever wear them. Right now he was in math and he had no friends in his class- his friends being his brother and his brother alone. Gerard also hated math. He could add and subtract but it was starting to get too complicated. Too many rules and big numbers he didn't understand. Not to mention his math teacher didn't like him because he wasn't smart like everyone else- or something like that.

"Gerard," His teacher called out from the front of the room. Gerard quickly looked up at her from zoning out at his desk. "Are you paying attention?" She asked firmly, tapping her ruler against the chalkboard. "Y-Yes..." Gerard stuttered quietly. "Then solve the equation."

"T-The what..?" Gerard stammered quietly, blushing as the students around him responded in quiet chuckles. "The problem on the board," His teacher sighed in annoyance, tapping the ruler once again. "O-Oh..." Gerard blushed as he looked up at the chalkboard.

3 tan (r/2) + 3 =
...What?

This made absolutely no sense. Tan is a color and r is a letter- what does that have to do with math? They're not numbers, and math is numbers!

The only things Gerard could recognize was two 3's, a plus sign, and a 2. So he did the most logical thing to him and added the three numbers up. Gerard quickly counted with his fingers under the desk.

"Um... E-Eight..?" Gerard stuttered softly. All the students burst into laughter. Gerard blushed hard and pulled his sweatshirt over his mouth. "The answer is zero," His teacher corrected sternly. "Either you think this class is a joke or you're not doing your work, and neither option is acceptable. Stay after class today." She demanded. "But Blues Clues is gonna be on..." Gerard mumbled to himself under his sweatshirt.

Nobody heard him or payed attention to him and the class continued. Gerard carefully watched his teacher write on the board, trying to keep up with what she was doing- but even if he copied the notes, it didn't make any sense. He was still far from understanding.

Before he knew it the bell rang and thus ended the school day. Everyone left with their friends, all talking and smiling, while Gerard sat hiding in his sweatshirt as he nervously looked up at his teacher. He didn't like staying after. He felt like something horrible would happen to him, but nothing ever did. Yet it still scared him a lot.

Just as his teacher was about to start her long lecture, Gerard's younger brother came in. "Mikey," Gerard whispered to himself smiling. Mikey was only a year younger than Gerard. "Excuse me, but this student is in detention." His teacher confronted. "This student is my brother. What'd he do?" Mikey asked as he crossed his arms.

"He failed to do his work correctly and didn't pay attention in class."
"I don't pay attention either. You gonna make me stay after?"

"Just make sure he learns something for once," The teacher scoffed. "At this rate I may as well make his overall grade a zero."

"Don't worry," Mikey said as he grabbed Gerard's hand. "We'll work on it." Gerard smiled shyly at his brother as he got up, putting his backpack on and walking out with him.

"So what was that about your grade being a zero?" Mikey asked as he sat on the couch next to his brother. "I dunno... I'm not good at math..." Gerard shrugged lightly. "Haven't you gotten any good grades?" His brother insisted. Gerard shook his head.

"Oh Gee," Mikey sighed. "What are we supposed to do?" "Sorry..." Gerard stammered. "I'm not mad at you, I just don't get what you don't understand about it." Mikey said as he got up. "Where are you going?" Gerard asked softly. "To the store, we need food." Mikey replied as he pulled his car keys from his pocket.

"Can you get strawberry milk?" Gerard squeaked. "I will, I always do." Mikey smiled. "You have to give me a kiss before you leave," Gerard reminded. "I know," Mikey said as he kissed Gerard's head. "I'll be back soon, call me if you need anything." Gerard nodded as his brother left the house. Mikey was used to Gerard acting like that around him. He didn't quite understand it but he didn't question it.

Gerard grabbed the tv remote and turned on the tv, and Blues Clues was still on. Gerard got up and went to the kitchen, looking through the cabinets. He pouted when he remembered they didn't own any sippy cups. So he grabbed a plastic cup and poured milk from the fridge in, putting in a straw as he carried his drink back to the living room.

Gerard plopped himself on the couch as he sipped his milk, watching his show. He wish he could watch this with his friends, but he didn't have any friends. He wish he could watch this with his brother, but his brother wouldn't understand. Mikey wouldn't understand at all. He thinks Gerard is something he isn't, an age he isn't. Gerard doesn't know why he thinks that. It's obvious. Gerard is a little. But Gerard doesn't even know that.

Greetings to the people who actually read my shit!
So this is going to be kind of a different take on DDLB where it's a little more focused on understanding why Gerard thinks this way, why it isn't a just kink, why it's a real thing, so on and so forth. Frank will be joining this story shortly (get it) and hopefully you guys will like where it goes from there :)
And if you're worried about this being just informational, don't worry, I have a lot of drama and cute things planned for this story!
