"Hey Lieutenant Bridger, wait up!" Wedge called out.

Kanan hadn't realized Ezra was back on base. They had been on separate missions. Kanan' s had ended early and he had been waiting for the rest of the crew. If Ezra was back though then so was Hera and Zeb. Kanan got up to go ask Ezra where the Ghost was landed.

"I've been meaning to ask you a question." Wedge said as he caught up with Ezra.

"About what?" Ezra asked stopping as he got to the table.

"About your 'family'. Clearly Zeb and Hera aren't related. Sabine left to be with her parents so she was clearly a foster child, but I haven't heard your story yet. Is Kanan your dad?" Wedge asked.

Kanan stopped dead in his tracks hearing Wedge ask Ezra this question. "Does he really think of me as like a parent to him?"

The two teens sat down on some crates.

Ezra sighed. "Not biologically, but yeah in a way he is my dad. He's my master and the closest I've had to a dad in a long time." He took a deep calming breath before he continued. "The entire crew is like the family I haven't had in a long time."

"Oh, if you don't mind me asking what happened to your original family?"

"The Empire killed them."

"Why didn't they kill you?"

"They've tried, but I'm not that easy to kill. Ask anyone."

"Thank the force you aren't kid." Kanan mumbled to himself. He sat down and listened in on the conversation.

"Do you want to talk about them? Maybe you can tell me how you ended up in the rebellion." Wedge asked.

Kanan felt Ezra's tension at the suggestion, but with another calming breath he began to answer.

"My parents lost everything when the empire took over the galaxy. Everything except for me. They never knew that I knew this but I had an older sister that I never got to know. Her name was Sara. I once overheard them say I was a lot like her. Mom even said I was more talented than Sara. I didn't know what that meant at the time." Ezra started.

"He knew about Sara?" Kanan said in surprise. He wondered how much else Ezra knew about that he hadn't told him.

"What did it mean?" Wedge asked.

"That Ezra is stronger in the force than Sara was." Kanan answered quietly. "That he's had a target painted on his back since the day he was born."

"That I've been wanted by the empire since I was born." Ezra replied earning a gasp from Wedge. Ezra laughed a little at his shock. "I'm guessing you didn't think that they targeted babies."

"Well no, I didn't honestly. Who would target an innocent little baby?"

"Someone that knows what theses babies can become once they grow up. They only target children of the force. Kanan, Ahsoka, Chopper, Zeb, and I saved a couple about a year ago."

"So let me guess you're parents died protecting you?"

"Actually no, they died a little over a year ago in a prison break. I hadn't seen them since they were arrested for illegal broadcasting on my eights birthday."

"They were arrested on your birthday?"

"Yep, empire day eight years ago."

"Aren't you 17?"

"Yeah so?"

"Ok you officially have the worst birthday ever."

"That's why I don't celebrate it much to the crews disappointment."

"Well you should be able to celebrate it no matter what else happened that day."

Kanan decided to interrupt there.
"Don't worry Wedge. The rebellion has this big birthday bash for him and Princess Leia every year the day between their birthdays. Everyone goes to it."

"He's kidding. That party is on Aldderan and we're invited, but we never make it." Ezra quickly corrects. "It's just for Leia's birthday anyways."

"Nice to know your back son. Mind helping me back to the ship." Kanan said as Wedge burst out laughing.

"You heard all that?" Ezra asked in shock.

"Yeah, but I prefer calling you kid over son." Kanan said. Ezra glared at him for a split second. Kanan was the only one that knew that Ezra hated being called a kid. Kanan just laughed. "Your my kid though."

"Wait, Kanan. I have one more question." Wedge said.

"Fine, go ahead Wedge." Kanan said. He was starting to realize how annoying he must have been back at the temple all those years ago.

"Are you and Commander Hera an item? I'm just wondering since she always calls you Love." Wedge's question shocked him.

Kanan opened his mouth but nothing came out.

"Hera's my Space Mom just as much as Kanan is my Space dad. At the very least they're space married." Ezra said for him.

"We're Space Married?" Kanan asked. Wedge took it as an answer though and left. "Space married? What is that supposed to mean?"

"It's the space version of comman law in the rebellion." Ezra replied without any hesitation. "According to the rest of the base though Zeb officiated the ceremony, I was your best man, Sabine was the maid of honor, and Chopper was the video photographer who forgot his camera."

"How long has this story been going around?"

"Since we joined Phoenix Squadron."
