the next day, sydney walked up the stairs to her shared apartment after a long day of working as an apprentice for a locally famous photographer. she loved the work, as photography was her passion since she was a kid, but the woman she worked for, her mentor, was a bit much sometimes. really, putting it lightly, the bitch was a total diva.when she opened the door, she was surprised to see that her best friend, luna, actually had people over. it was just their mutual friends, yugyeom and bambam, but the girl was usually a hermit, so it still came as a surprise. sydney shrugged it off, assuming she was just in the middle of one of her random social phases that usually only lasted a couple weeks at a time. it would be better to just let her have her fun and maybe hang out a bit with the guys as well instead of getting grumpy for being given no prior notice of their presence whatsoever.
"well here's a notification i never thought i'd get: '@/michaelgclifford calum hood is the real life troy bolton change my mind,'" yugyeom said animatedly during a commercial break advertising f(x) krystal's latest bb cream while luna sat shoving korean snacks in her mouth by the handful.
"you follow michael clifford? the crazy hair?" bambam snorts.
yugyeom shrugs. "he's a good dancer."
"ehhhhhh," luna's voice goes high in an uncertain tone.
"what, you don't think so?" yugyeom asks, managing to sneak a couple chips from the bowl before luna slapped his hand away.
"i meannnn, calum's more of a chad kinda guy, i think. he's better suited for a supporting role; that's why he plays bass."
yugyeom choked on his chips in shock as bambam erupted into screams.
"FATALITY!!!" the twinks dab and chant 'chu chu chu' accordingly.
sydney laughed along with them as she shrugged off her coat.
noticing her presence, yugbam cheered with their creepy unison. "sydney!"
"whoa, that enthusiasm almost makes me wanna pardon you for attacking my husband," she smiled at them before turning to luna. "did you feed the cats?"
"yeah, they're good," she replied distractedly as the drama came back on.
"sydneyyyy," yugyeom whined. "i'm hungryyyy."
"you have hands, don't you?" she rolled her eyes as she kicked off her shoes. "go make yourself something."
"i'm too lazy to get up, thoughhh," yugyeom groaned, flopping back on the couch.
"yeah," bambam joined in. "and luna won't share her snacks with us! we tried to get some and she bit us!"
sydney laughed, finally giving in. "alright, but you owe me."
the boys agreed, and sydney started for the kitchen to get some quick snacks. it was then that she saw the pink box resting dutifully on the counter, just waiting there for someone to open it.
"that's odd..." she mumbled to herself. "i'm usually the one fucking up."
"huh?" luna called from the living room obnoxiously in an old lady voice. "what did you say? i'm a little hard of hearing."
"what's with the cake?" sydney asked, reading the box to see that it was from jinyoung's place. sydney wondered why he would send her a cake. maybe for always giving him so much business?
"dunno... it was here when i got home," she shrugged, going back to the tv. "it's addressed to you, though."
sydney looked, and, sure enough, her name was right there on the side. "wow, he actually got all the labeling right this time," she remarked, a bit salty about jinyoung's recent fuck ups even though she met a hot guy out of it. "gold stars for him."
