today is moving day the girls are not happy to be moving. sky had just met a friend and now has to move away. she threw a tantrum not to go but we explained to her that we had new jobs in LA and that she has to go, she is still upset but she will get used to it. just a week ago we bought sky a iPhone 6 with a protective case so she can text and call her friends when we move. we have been in the car all day driving, we have to drive for 2 days to get there and this is just the first day. sky has been acting out all day, she has been rude, disrespectful and she threw gum in Jessica's hair. we stop at a diner for super. we get out and go in and i say to sky
"sky i'm not happy the way you have been acting today, you better start behaving unless you want to spend the first day in the new house grounded to your room"
"okay i'm just upset, i just made a friend and then we had to move"
"i know honey but you can always text her or call her"
"i know but it wont be the same, you never understand" she says irritated
"okay calm down sweetie, you will make new friends"
"okay"
we order a pizza and fries and we each get a drink i get sprite, sky gets orange crush, Jess gets 7 up, and Paul gets an iced tea. we eat and then we go to a park. when we get there we go to a bench and sit down while Jess pushes sky on the swing. i turn to Paul and say
"hey hon, did you find a job yet?" i ask
"no, i didn't and if i cant find one what will we do?" Paul asks
"hon you know i'm going to be making enough money for the both of us, so if you cant find one we wont struggle, i think i saw a teacher job wanted at a public school" i say
"oh really okay when we get home ill fax them my papers and CV"
"i love you honey, we are doing great taking care of those girls" i say
he pulls me into a hug and we kiss. we sit there with each other for about 10 minutes then we tell the girls
"girls its time to go we need to get to the hotel"
"nooooooo" sky whines
"yes we have to go to bed, i'm tired from driving all day. tomorrow after lunch we can stop at a nearby park okay?"
"oh okay lets go"
we get into the car and drive, its a 30 minutes drive to the hotel. once we get to the hotel i look back and see sky sleeping on Jess's shoulder i go and pick her up. i bring her up to our room that we reserved online. i lay her in the bed and go and shower. i come back after my shower in my red pajama pants and a white t-shirt, i go check my phone and see i got a message from our social worker from when we adopted skylar, she hasn't contacted us since the adoption went through. i go to voicemail and click it. it says
hi Mr. Johnson, its Anna i'm contacting you because we were contacted by a Amanda Jones and she did DNA tests and she is skylar's mother and wishes to have custody or her, not full custody part custody, will you please give me a call back, have a great weekend.
i go to Paul who just got out of the shower and say
"hon they found sky's mom and she wants joint custody of sky" i say
"WHAT! after all this time she wants to be there for her" he yells
i nod and hug him and say
"its going to be okay hon, i'm going to call her now"
i go call her and she answers
"hello Mr. Johnson thanks fro calling shall we discuss?"
"yes" i say
"well i'm aware that you have moved to LA and she lives in LA 1 hour from where your house is and in a week i'm going to travel there to talk to you and your partner in person about the arrangements, but as you know since she is the birth mother she is entitled to see sky, she will get every other week"
"wait? when will this start?" i ask
"well it will be starting in 1 month so you have time to tell sky and get her prepared" she says
"okay thank you, bye have a good night" i say
"bye" she says
i go and lay in bed and after a while fall asleep.
***the next day***
we get up at 7 and go after breakfast at the hotel, we eat lunch then we go to a park, Paul and i sit as we watch the girls play and we talk.
"so hon did you talk to sky yet?" he asks
"no i haven't i'm not telling her till we get home and settled in"
"that's a good idea she needs sleep and if we told her today we would have a hard day"
i nod then we go with the girls to push them on the swings. after the park we start driving more, we will be home around midnight.
