In the case were various weapons and papers, all the weapons I recognized because of their uses daily. I ran my fingers over the unique stele's, the crystal unusually cold. I pulled one of the steles out of its bindings, only to have it illuminate purple in my hands, something that wasn't usual. I placed it onto the table , grabbing a few of the papers that littered the case, unable to read the language it was written in. I placed the notes onto the table, laying my head in my hands, trying to think of what should be done. Should I involve them or just figure it out on my own? Deciding, I slowly approached the door, opening it to see everyone waiting outside eagerly to help.
"I need your help, all of you."
James pushed past me first, entering the room hurriedly, "About time you admitted you needed us."
"It's not like I have any choice," I mumbled.
The others followed me back to the table where the papers and weapons were scattered, "Whoa," James said happily, piking up the crystal sword, leaving it plain.
"That's not right," I told him, taking it from him, allowing it to illuminate purple.
"Double whoa," Clary said.
"Why is it like that? Steles are not supposed to be like that," Izzy said.
"I wish I knew." I set it down, "The papers must explain it, if only I could read it."
"Maybe it only works for those who share the bloodline of the creator," James suggested.
I raised my eyebrow at his new discovery, "Yes, maybe."
"I can, I can understand some of these words," said James as he shuffled through the papers.
"You can?" I asked, curious on what would be written on the sheet.
"All I can understand is creation, stele, dangerous, side-effect," James trailed off, "and Death."
"Do you know anything else?"
"Right now, no," James said.
"Do you think Magnus would know?" James asked the group.
"It's possible," Alec said.
I turned to Alec, "Do you think he'd help us if I went to him?"
"He might, but might not, it depends."
"I'll take that." I turned to James, "Let's go, your coming with me to visit Mr. Bane."
Jace coughed, "What about me?"
"Do you really want to visit him, you two don't really get along."
He smirked, "No but, for you, I'll deal with him."
"Then it's settled, we're going to see Magnus Bane," I said, grabbing one of the swords from the table and sliding it into the place of my old one.
"And why do you need that?" Simon questioned.
"Well, if I happen to run into some trouble, I want to find out what's so different about these things."
"Be careful, all three of you," Alec said.
"We will."
"Call us if anything happens, just if you need us," Izzy said.
"I will."
"Protect this stuff," James ordered them.
"Yes sir," muttered Clary sarcastically.
When the three of us arrived at Magnus' place, I stood in front of the large gate, "James, go head in and we'll catch up, tell him I'm here."
"But-"
"Just go, I want to talk to Jace for a second."
He huffed, "Fine."
He disappeared and I took jace's hand, "Don't fight him please."
"I can't make you any promises on that."
"Jace," I whined, stopping my foot on the concrete.
"Okay, okay, I'll try."
I smiled, liking that I finally got my way, "Thank you."
He pulled my hand, leading me into the large empty yard, the one from the party we previously attended, "Let's just get this over with."
"Remember, behave."
"I knew it wouldn't be long until I saw you again," Magnus said, coming from behind a wall with James following close behind.
"I need your help."
"I know, but I don't see why they are here."
"I wanted them to come, so I wasn't alone."
"Well that's the only way we can speak, alone," Magnus said.
"Go, we'll be fine," James said.
Jace's hand let go of mine, "I think we can manage to do something to keep ourselves entertained."
"Don't be destructive, either of you," I begged.
"We can't make any promises sweetheart," Jace said.
JACE'S P.O.V
"So, Jace,'' James started after Aly and Magnus disappeared to his room, "What exactly are you doing here?"
"I supporting my girlfriend, what's it to you?"
"I know about you and your little past girlfriends, I don't want you to get sick of her and just leave her to rot like the others you've been with."
"It's not like that with her, she's different."
"That doesn't mean you love her because, deep down, I know you don't."
"You don't know anything."
"I do, guys like you don't love."
"Guys like me?"
"Players, assholes, dicks, you name it you are it, but you get my point."
"Listen here, James, you don't know me or what I think, but I'll tell you something," I got close to him, towering about an inch or two over him, "I love Alyson more than anything and nothing will tear us apart."
James smirked, backing up, "That's what you think."
ALY'S P.O.V
"Drink?" Magnus asked as we entered his room, the door shutting behind him.
"No thanks."
"I guess we'll get straight down to business then?" Magnus moved to his chair, plopping down, "Take a seat."
I slowly sat across from him, taking out the crumpled papers in my hands, "I found these in my house, its the same language as the journal my father gave me." I handed them to him, "James caught a couple words but, nothing else."
He studied the sheets, moving the pages around every few seconds, "Alyson, do you know what this rune is?"
I shook my head as he held up the picture of the rune my father told me about, "No, my father didn't say."
"This rune," he paused, "This is the rune for immortality." TBC
