Chapter 2:

Brittany’s Point of View

“Need some help?” Derek asked Isaac. Isaac sat in the newly buried grave for Kate Argent. Isaac sighed; grateful he wasn’t in any real danger. Derek held his hand out and Isaac grabbed it.

“Thanks,” Isaac said. He was now safely on the ground, staring at this man who had helped him.

“Want me to help you with something else?” Derek asked. Isaac looked at Derek confused and then looked over at the now collapsed bulldozer. Isaac sighed and nodded. Fear emanated from him. “No, not that.” Isaac looked at Derek confused. “I know what it’s like for you. You live in fear all the time, disappointment surrounds you. How would you like to get rid of that? You can feel powerful all the time.”

“How…” but before Isaac could finish his sentence, Derek’s eyes flashed red and he flashed his razor sharp teeth. Isaac jumped back but Derek grabbed him by the shirt.

“You could be like me. You can be powerful, and not live in fear. You can be so strong and fast. Maybe even win her back,” Derek said. Isaac suddenly became interested.

“How do I…” Isaac gulped. “How do I become like you?”

“I just have to give you the bite.”

I shot up straight and looked around. I was still in my room. I started to panic, what if Isaac had taken the bite? I got up from my bed and started looking around for my phone. I went into my bag, and thankfully it was there. I unlocked it, went into my contacts and pressed Isaac.

I started to get anxiety realizing I haven’t talked to Isaac since Friday at the dance, where I abandoned him. I sighed and decided I had to do this. I was going to have to apologize to him anyways. It went to his voicemail and I started breathing heavily. I looked at the clock, it was 5:45, so either he was still sleeping, or he’s already getting ready for school and ignoring me, or he was running around with Derek in the woods.

“Hey, it’s Isaac. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can,” his voicemail said. I waited for the beep, then left my message.

“Hi! Isaac… um… I was calling you because I really want to apologize for um… leaving you at the dance with no explanation. I promise it was for a good reason, although I probably should have called you… but that doesn’t matter. Wait! No, of course it matters, because that was rude of me, but um… I was wondering if you’re alright? Um… how do I not sound crazy when asking this, but then again maybe I won’t sound crazy when I ask you this if it really happened-”

Beep! I let out a frustrated yell. The stupid machine had cut me off. I’m not giving up; I decided to call him again. Mid ring, it suddenly turned off. I dropped my phone to my side and my chest hurt at what he had done. He had turned off his phone… I sat down on my bed and sighed. I guess I did deserve that.

I sighed and decided I would confront him in the morning. I laid back in bed; hoping sleep would soon come to me. It didn’t, and I decided to draw in my sketchpad until 6:30 when I was supposed to get up.

I looked at the clock and put my sketchpad down. It was now 6:45; I should probably get in the shower. I sighed, got up from my bed, and walked over to my bathroom. I stripped and turned on scolding hot water, hoping that would relax me.

While in the midst of singing “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan, I heard a knock at the door. “Hello?” I said while rinsing my hair.

“Hey, it’s Stiles,” I heard Stiles say. I started to panic, how long have I been in here? How long has he been waiting for me?

“What time is it?!” I yelled.
