I enter the room and close the door behind me. Drew has already noticed my presence and is now watching me as I make my way to the bed and sit beside him. The air is awkward still as it has been since the picture. I play with the DVD in my hands to try and make it feel less awkward but it just made it worse.
Eventually I decide to just put in the movie and lie down on the bed. Drew turns to me and I gesture for him to lie back aswell. And he does. It still feels awkward at first especially since we are watching a very girly comedy and all I want to do is laugh but it just feels weird. Then Drew puts his arm around me pulls me in and kisses my forehead and suddenly it doesn't feel so awkward anymore. I turn to him and smile which he returns before we both split our sides with laughter.
Once we've calmed ourselves down Drew starts the conversation,
"So we let things get very awkward there for a while huh?"
"Yeah. Yeah we did. But I mean it was weird I mean I never expected for you to be the boy in the photo and it makes it weirder that I carry that photo nearly everywhere with me. Not always to school though in case I lose it. But I mean it's just a photo so it shouldn't bother me but it reminds me of a happy time. And now I'm rambling so I'm just gonna shut up now." I take in a deep breath having not realised I said that all rather quick in one breath. I turn to see Drew smiling at me and blush before bowing my head and burying it in my hands from embarrassment. It doesn't get awkward again though. Instead Drew manoeuvres us so that we are under the cover all warm watching the rest of 'Bridget jones diary'.We both must have dosed off as I wake up the next morning with Drew's arms still wrapped around me. It being a Saturday I decided to just leave Drew to sleep and try rest myself. It's not like we had to be anywhere. I dose off again for an hour that's when Sheila comes bursting into the room in a panic screaming
"Drew is missing I can't find Drew!".
To which both Drew and I spring into a sitting position from the fright his mother was after giving us.Sheila then walks over to Drew still dazed and in a panic not noticing that it is in fact her "missing" son that's sitting there in the bed. She grabs him by the shoulders and shakes him saying,
"Drew! Drew is missing we need to find him! He's not in his room!"
"Mom! Mom! It's me calm down. I must have just fallen asleep in here by accident we were watching a movie last night."
"Oh Drew it's you!" She screams while suffocating Drew in a bone crushing hug.
"I was so worried. I though you had up and left during the night."Sheila finally starts to clam down and then realises what she has just walked into. Her son in the bed of the non related female staying in the house. Her face grows shocked then confused then a little stern. She looks like she is having a battle with her emotions right now she doesn't know wether to be happy, infuriated or surprised. She settles for surprised. Well her features tell us she is surprised her voice sounds more cautious and curious then surprised as she asks us
"Ammm... So we're you two... Asleep? Before I walked in here or is this a question that, as Drew's mother and the person looking after you Marissa, I don't want to know the answer to?"
"MOM!" Drew shouts a slight blush staining his face as he knows exactly what his mother was implying. This earns a smirk from his mother.
"Maz and I were watching a movie last night. That's all. We must have just dosed off. I'm sorry for worrying you." Hearing him call me Maz was a little strange it's usually just Zack, and Luke the odd time. My friends mostly call me Marissa except for Tara she calls me Maz the odd time aswell. But I think I like him calling me Maz. It feels special.Hearing his story, Sheila left the room with a grin on her face which led me to believe she was up to something. She shut the door on her way out leaving Drew and I alone again. Drew turns to me and smiles apologetically
"I'm apologise for my mother. She's not usually like this. Although if she goes looking for me in the morning she does usually find me in my room."
We both laugh at his subtle little joke.
"It's fine. Honestly she was just worried about you and then I don't what the end there was but it's better then my mother would have been. She would have freaked out. You would have been satan in her eyes." Again we both laugh. When the laughing stops Drew gives me a hug and kisses my forehead before getting up himself and exiting my room to return to his own.
I get up and change into a tracksuit as I don't plan to leave the house today. Once I'm dressed I go into my bathroom and comb my hair and tie it up before washing my face and brushing my teeth. I then head downstairs for breakfast. When I get to the kitchen Luke and Mason are already sitting at the table eating their breakfast and Sheila is on the phone to someone recalling the mornings events to them including finding Drew in my my bed. I get the feeling we won't live that down for a while. I wonder who she is talking to. It's probably Mark. She most likely called him to tell him that Drew wasn't missing and was in fact okay and in the house.
I grab me self a bowl and some lion cereal and make my way to the table to eat my breakfast. Not long after this Sheila joins us and is no longer on the phone. She asks us all how our morning was and before I get the chance to answer my phone starts ringing. I check who it is and seeing it's my mother I answer as I haven't spoken to her since Thursday.
"MARISSA ALICE BLAKE!" I had to pull the phone away from my ear as she shouted down the phone at me I could hear the horror in her voice.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU SHARED YOUR BED WITH A BOY YOU HARDLY KNOW AND NOT ONLY THAT IT TECHNICALLY WASN'T EVEN YOUR BED!" Again keeping my phone away from my ear I could see the others at the table laughing as they could hear what she was saying.
"YOU KNOW BOYS ONLY WANT ONE THING FROM A GIRL YOUR AGE AND YOU WERE SILLY ENOUGH TO GIVE IT TO HIM!" Now I'm blushing as Sheila obviously didn't explain everything to her I get up to leave the kitchen and talk to my mother in private. I turn around to see Drew standing behind me and his blush is probably worse then mine. Oh god how long has he been standing there.Without a word I leave the kitchen and make my way to my room and Drew follows.
" Mam, Mam please calm down. It wasn't like that and as you well know apparently I know Drew more then any of ye have cared to let on. But when we got back to the house yesterday it was awkward because we had just realised we knew each other as kids. So we went to my room and put on a movie to try and get over it. Then we just fell asleep it wasn't intentional that he stay in my room and it was completely innocent. Please Mam you don't need to worry."
"But Sheila said-" I cut her off before she could continue.
"Mam I don't know what Sheila has told you but she panicked this morning when she didn't find Drew in his room. She came into my room to tell me he was missing and found him but it was completely innocent ask Sheila again I'm sure she'll tell you. I can put you on to Drew if you want to hear it from him as well." I think I've started to get through to her as it seems to be a lot of silence at the moment and with Mam it's only silent when she's thinking. And now that I think about it I'm not sure that's a good thing.I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have suggested putting her on to Drew cause knowing my mother she will most certainly want to talk to him and question him.
But before my mother has the chance to answer me the phone is taken off of my by Drew.
"Hello Mrs Blake?" He greets my mother. I can't make out what she is saying on the other end of the line but I know she is talking. But the fact I can't make it out I'm gonna take as a good thing as that means she's not shouting.
"Yes I understand it sounds very bad but I assure you. I would never take advantage of your daughter she is a very sweet girl and I wouldn't want to hurt her. What my mother walked in on this morning was completely innocent as Maz has already explained. We went to the woods yesterday and we swapped photos of our childhood and realised that we knew each other as kids. It made things awkward for a while so we decided to put on a movie and it helped we just fell asleep while watching the movie and didn't realise till my mother came in this morning." I blush as I had woken up earlier and realised but it was a Saturday so decided to let him sleep. But then he blushes. So I'm assuming my mother has made some comment about his story.
"Ahhh yes sorry. I've just sort of gotten used to calling her Maz I guess at first I did it as a joke when I heard your son call her Maz but I kinda liked it and I like that I'm one of few that does call her Maz so I guess I just do it without realising now." And again I can hear mumbling but can't make it out but it mustn't be bad as Drew relaxes a bit.
"Of course, Mrs Blake I'll take care of her don't you worry about that." And again it was my turn to blush about 10 shades darker.
"Would you like for me to put you back on to her? Or do you have to go? Okay I'll let her know. Thank you Mrs Blake. Goodbye." He hangs up and hands me back my phone."She had to go see your brother but she said to tell you she loves you and that she thinks you can trust me but to keep an eye on me all the same." To this we both laugh. We then head back to the kitchen for breakfast. By the time we get there everyone else is finished and gone. I didn't realise we were gone so long. We sit in comfortable silence and ate our breakfast before returning to our separate bedrooms.
