Chapter Fifteen
"Honey I'm home." I heard Christian's voice call out from behind me in the cheesiest way possible.
"About time, I was almost beginning to worry." Was the sarcastic reply he received. "Your dinner's in the microwave."
I wasn't entirely joking about the time, he was far later getting home than usual, I was almost going to get up and get ready for bed.
"What did you make me?"
"Just mac 'n cheese." I replied, turning back to the TV in front of me as I saw him disappear into the kitchen. I was watching another soap opera that at the moment seemed to revolve around a housewife cheating scandal, yeah I was having the time of my life.
"How'd your day go?" He asked as he plopped down on the couch next to me.
"Yeah it was pretty good, had some places call me to set up an interview and then had lunch with Sadie."
"Oh that's good news, what places?"
I shrugged as he shoved some of the steaming pasta into his mouth, did he realise it was probably going to be hot? Obviously it didn't bother him.
"Just some random ones I applied to."
"And how was Sadie's vacation?" He said once more shovelling in a mouthful.
"I wouldn't really call it a vacation; she was just visiting her family. But yeah she seemed to have a good time." I was now far more interested in watching Christian eating than the clearly riveting scene playing out on the TV, god did he have any manners at all? How much could he get into his mouth at one time? "Her and Lee want to come over for dinner one night this week, what night suits you?"
He shrugged. "Whenever, I can just go down to the bar or something and leave you to it." He had said that whole sentence around a mouthful of food.
"No, Sadie and Lee want you to be here as well."
"Really?" He looked at me confused still chewing.
It was my turn to shrug once again. "They've supposed to have known about our relationship this whole time, maybe it'll be better if they actually spend some time with you."
He continued shovelling food in his mouth after he nodded in agreement; I suppose that was a good excuse to keep him here, no need to boost his already inflated ego by telling him my friends just wanted to admire him.
How much food was left in his bowl? I didn't think I had even made that much.
Finally, he put the bowl down on the coffee table leaning back and stretching his arms over his head. "That was good; you should make it for me more often."
"With the way you eat I don't think I want to make you anything anymore."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
I shook my head. "Nothing."
"Well that's me out, I'm exhausted." He stood then, clearly intending to go up to bed.
"Wait that's it, you get home eat dinner and then go straight to sleep?"
He used that infuriating smirk. "What are you going to miss my company Na-na?"
I rolled my eyes. "No." I huffed. "Where were you anyway?"
The smirk grew. "Why do you want to know? Going to start keeping tabs on me? Watch my every move and mediate who I can talk to?"
I looked away from him then, I couldn't look at him and not think about the conversation I had with Carly earlier, I knew he would hate it, he hated everything Carly.
