I looked up at the dark-gray clouds covering the sky, sighing as I felt a few drops of rain landing on my face. "Fuck.." I exclaimed, pulling my hood up over my head, and started walking towards my new high school.

You see, Mikasa and I had to change high school, since my jerk of a father had to transfer jobs to a hospital in a different city. We basically left everything behind; including friends, our childhood home and lots of other shit that I actually did not mind forgetting.

My father worked as a doctor and was almost never home. It seemed like work was all he cared about, since he never paid much attention to what Mikasa and I did at school or in our spare time. He had been like that ever since our mother died, drowning himself in work, probably trying to forget it ever happened. Considering, it was probably time we got out of that house filled stuff she left behind.

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard someone yelling from behind me.

"Hey, Jackass! You're going the wrong way!"

I spun around almost immediately, shouting back. "Who the hell are you calling a jackass?!" Mikasa came jogging towards me with a huge grin on her face and offered me an umbrella.

"The school is that way," she pointed her finger in the opposite direction of where I was going and laughed. "Of course," I said, mentally facepalming myself. "I knew that.."

I opened the umbrella, relieved to be out of the now pouring rain.

Mikasa was my adopted sister; she had been since we were around three years old, so I did not really remember how it was like not having her around. She told me she barely remembered her birthparents, only bits and pieces. There were not a lot to learn about them either, having tried to find out more about them a couple years back, we eventually gave up.

Then, we started to actually walk towards Sina High.

Mikasa hit my arm gently. "Why didn't you wait for me?"

I shrugged. "Sorry.. I- uh... Guess I am a little tired.. and nervous."

She looked over at me with kind gray eyes and smiled reassuringly. Her jet black hair was slightly flowing in the wind; It was now long enough to cover the red scarf she always carried. "You're going to be fine, Eren. I am sure you will find some new friends, and you got me, right? ..and Armin goes to Sina too!"

With that, my face lit up.

"I totally forgot! Wow, we haven't seen him since elementary school. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he sees how much taller I got, I'll tower over him like a titan!" I grinned, gaining a chuckle from Mikasa.

"Eren, don't be a douche, you know he has always been a little insecure.." She looked at me with pleading eyes. I raised my hands up in surrender.

"Hey sorry, I'm joking!" I gave her a half-smile and kept walking towards the school.

I was honestly worried when Armin and his family had to move, because I didn't know if he would be able to make any friends. He never talked to anyone so I thought he would be lonely without Mikasa and me there for him. It was true, Armin had always struggled with insecurities... and standing up for himself... and speaking to people other than Mikasa and me.

However, the kid was bloody brilliant.

At the age of nine, he was a master at math's and all kinds of history, not to talk about the boy's understanding of strategical games. I tried to keep up as much as I could, but for a kid more interested in physical activities than the brainy stuff, it wasn't easy.

The first time I actually had a conversation with the kid was in fourth grade. I was walking to class when I heard several voices shouting and laughing. I decided to check it out since I was one of the last people in the schoolyard, and the classes were starting soon. Mikasa had already gone inside with one of her friends, so I walked alone towards the voices, unknowing of what was waiting for me. When I found the source of the voices, I reacted almost immediately.

What I saw was a small blonde haired boy on the ground, hugging his knees and screaming, while three older boys stood around him laughing.

"This is what you get for being a smartass!" The largest of the boys said, giving the blonde haired boy a kick to the side. He was clearly the leader of the three; the two other boys stood on his right side shouting at the little boy, occasionally kicking and punching him.

"Please, stop! I'm sorry!" The little boy cried out and gasped for air. His clothes were dirty and his hair was a mess. I couldn't just stand by and watch as the defenceless blonde was attacked by three fucktards, so before even batting an eye I started running towards them.

"Hey assholes!"

All of them quickly spun around looking scared, but as soon as they saw me, their expression changed to one of annoyance.

"Who the hell are you?" the leader said.

I didn't answer.

Instead, I charged at them, throwing my fist against one of his followers' stomach.

As a fourth grader I wasn't exactly strong, but I managed to land a punch that made the boy clutch his stomach and groan in pain.

"Little fucker." The chubby boy said and came charging towards me.

The fight was quickly over; I ended up on the ground next to the blonde haired boy. Having had the air knocked out of me as I had crashed to the ground, my whole body hurt and I had trouble breathing. After a short while I sat up and groaned, clutching my stomach. The three boys had left in a hurry, leaving us on the hard asphalt.

"That hurt.." I winced in pain and looked over at the blonde still laying on the ground, who was hugging his knees.

"Are you alright?"

"Please.. stop.." He whispered and let out a small sob. I scrambled over to him, ignoring the pain, and shook his shoulder gently.

"Hey, they left, it's okay."

He slowly looked up at me, his slate-blue eyes filled with tears. I lifted myself to my feet and offered him a hand, giving him a reassuring smile. He hesitated at first, but then took a hold of me with a shaking hand. I helped him up, careful not to let him go before he was steady on his feet.

"Thanks.." he said while looking at the ground, his messy blonde hair covering his tear-streaked face. "No problem.. does it hurt?" I smiled sympathetically through my own pain and studied him carefully. He nodded and staggered a bit. I took a hold of him quickly and supported his weight - even though he barely weighed anything - and started slowly walking towards the school building.

"I'm Eren, what's your name?"

The blonde kept his eyes fixed on the ground and answered with a shaking voice. "Armin."

"Eren?"

"Eren!" Mikasa practically screamed in my ear. I winced at the loud noice and shot her a glare.

"What?"

"Were you listening to me?" She sighed, clearly annoyed.

"Never mind.. we are here."

Soo here is the first chapter! My friend really wanted me to upload (you know who you are 😂) and I decided to just go with it since it's my 18th birthday today!

Hope you will enjoy and I honestly don't know how long I will use to write this fanfic since it's my first one and I guess it's a hobby next to all the other stuff I do..

Anyways, thanks for reading! 😊

(Edit: I realized I wasn't happy with a few details in my story so I will change them a bit, however it won't affect the plot at all)
