Coffee

I had walked out of the house with no destination in mind, and before I knew it, I was lost. I shivered at the cold November air piercing through my body, cursing at myself for bringing a thin jacket. My headache got a bit better after the painkillers kicked in, but I still had to squint my eyes at the brightly lit sky. I walked by a couple stores, watching as a few people were browsing for groceries or clothes. There weren't a lot of people out since it was still early in the morning, but I saw a couple women walking by holding cups of steaming hot coffee, and and a man walking a tiny dog, looking annoyed to have to walk around this early on a cold November day.

I reached my hand in to my pocket to take out my phone, but realized it wasn't there. I quickly checked my other pockets and groaned when remembering I didn't bring it with me from my bedroom. However, the worst of all was, I was still wearing my gray striped pyjama pants.

I walked quickly towards the first shop I could find, not wanting to meet anyone I knew dressed like I was. I pushed the door open and a little bell rang, making a couple heads turn towards me. I averted their eyes, hurrying over to the back of the coffee shop, sitting down, my back towards the entrance. I ran a hand through my hair and looked down at the dark brown table. My eyes fell shut as I finally got a moment to relax without anyone interrupting or yelling at me.

The moment didn't last long as the memories came creeping back in to my head, making me groan in frustration. I felt bad for yelling at Mikasa like I had. What I had said wasn't fair, I knew that, but I could never seem to stop myself before saying or doing something stupid. Mikasa and I did have our fair share of fights, and they were mostly my fault.

However, why would she suddenly snap like that? It wasn't my fault that he had showed up and decided to join me in that room, looking at me with those unreadable dark gray eyes.. Not to speak of his slightly pink cheeks and messy hair, almost making my heart jump out of my chest.

I sighed and covered my face as it started heating up again, remembering how it had felt to kiss him. However, what had happened next was the most confusing. He ran off just like that, not explaining what I did wrong. Was it because of what happened nearly two weeks ago? Or was he possibly dating someone else?

I wanted to know, but how was I supposed to face him, it was already awkward after what I thoughtlessly blurted out in the music room. This thing just added to the pile of why I should never see him again, it would probably be better if I moved to a place far away, or maybe move to another planet.

"Sir?"

I quickly lifted my head from my hands and looked up at the lady smiling down at me. "Yes?" I said, blinking in confusion. "I asked if you would like to order something." She kept smiling, waiting for my order. My eyes widened a bit. "Oh.. I'm sorry I don't have any money with me.." I said, remembering all my money was in my phone case. Her smile turned in to a slight frown.

"I'm sorry, but you can't sit here without ordering something.." I shook my head and started standing up, smiling at her tiredly. "Sorry, I'll leave.." She smiled at me again, then turned and walked back to stand behind the desk. I was about to walk outside when I saw someone in the corner of my eye, waving at me.

"Hey Eren! What are you doing here?" Hanji grinned up at me and gestured for me to come over. I frowned at her and walked towards her table, awkwardly sitting down on the chair opposite of hers. "Why do I keep seeing you everywhere I go?" She let out a laugh and picked up her coffee. "I could say the same to you, green eyes." She said, pointing her finger at me and wiggling her brows. "Green eyes..?" I said, raising a brow at her. "Aah, nothing.. just picked it up from somewhere. However, why are you here this early?" I sighed, looking down at my hands resting on the table.

"Kind of a long story.."

"Great! I love stories," she said, sitting up in her seat. She waved her hand at the woman working behind the desk, and she came over since there weren't any customers besides us and a man sitting at a table, reading a newspaper.

"What do you want Eren, I'll pay." She said, giving me a reassuring smile. "I don't usually drink coffee.." I said, awkwardly, scratching my neck. Hanji snorted, "then why did you come to a coffee shop?" She looked up at the woman, who had a tired look on her face.

"He'll have a Caffè mocha," Hanji said and the woman nodded, walking back to make the drink.

"Is that like a chocolate drink..?" I asked, curiously. Coffee hadn't really been a part of my short life, since I didn't actually need anything to wake me up in the morning. "Yeah! Coffee, chocolate and cream. Simple, but delicious." She said, a dreamy look on her face. I laughed, shaking my head at her. "We'll see."

"Then, back to what we were talking about, I wanna hear the story!" She said, exitedly.

"Yeah.. I had a stupid argument with Mikasa about last night and yelled at her," I sighed, "and I forgot my phone.. and I'm walking around in pyjama pants." She burst out laughing at the last thing I said, moving her head to look under the table, confirming what I just told her. "I gotta try that once too, is it comfortable?" She looked at me curiously. I snorted and shrugged, "a bit cold.." She nodded.

"Why did you argue though, did you steal a guy from her?" I looked up at her, raising my eyebrows. "No..? it's nothing important really.." I said, looking away, mentally cursing at myself as I felt my face getting warm. "Okay, but there was definetly a guy, I can tell from your expression. Who was it?" She said, grinning at me. "I.. don't remember." I said, averting her eyes.

"Liar, liar, slutty dress on fire." She said in a low voice, smirking at me.

I gave her a confused look, then quickly looked over at the woman by the desk, relieved when she came towards us holding a cup of coffee. I accepted it, thanking her, and immediately put it to my lips, avoiding Hanji's stare. I welcomed the warm feeling of the drink as it ran down my throat. I sighed, feeling my body warming up, pleased since the drink tasted better than expected.

"Good right?" Hanji said. I glanced over at her, nodding slightly. I took another sip and put the cup on the table, keeping my hands around it, warming them. "If you don't want to tell me, It's fine, but I'll find out one way or another." She smirked. I frowned at her, "what's that supposed to mean?" She smiled brighter. "I have my ways.. and don't forget it was my house." I cleared my throat, "yeah.." I heard the bell over the front door ring as it opened, and automatically turned my head to see who it was.

"Hey Hanji, Look who I got out of bed!" The blonde guy said walking further in to the shop. "Mornin', Erwiiin!" Hanji sang. I couldn't see her face since I was looking the other way, but I would have bet a hundred bucks she was grinning like crazy since Erwin was doing the same. I noticed someone walking behind him and my eyes widened as a black haired guy stepped out from behind him, looking pissed.

"He got a bit too much to drink last night, was hell getting him out.." He trailed off as he saw the look on my face and stopped walking. The ravenette glanced over at Erwin, then followed his gaze towards where he was looking. As he saw me, his expression changed slighly, his eyes widening.
