Monday.

The one day of the week that's always shitty in some way. Whether it's school, or just one tiny thing that happens, mondays always seems to be shit. And this monday was indeed going to be that kind of monday.

I walked in to school, not expecting much to happen throughout the day. The same old boring classes, with the same boring teachers.

It had been less than a week since I started school and I still had a hard time keeping up with everyone, and the teachers didn't make it any easier. None of them really made an effort to help me understand anymore, they just told me I had to 'try to keep up', and it pissed me off. However, there was this one teacher, Hannes, who actually tried to help me. He saw that I got frustrated when I didn't understand, and made sure to come over to explain when everyone else worked with their tasks. I didn't have any classes with him today though.

There weren't a lot of people around yet, which made it easier to find the cafeteria I had gotten lost in, my first day of school. Mikasa had rushed of saying she needed to go to the toilet, so I was left alone wandering the halls.

That was until a certain someone jumped out in front of me, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Hello, newbie!" She said, smiling at me with those ever-excited eyes.

"Hi, Hanji." I said, sleepily. She started to walk next to me, following to wherever I was going. "Someone's sleepy," she laughed, her ponytail bouncing on the back of her head as she walked.

"Yeah, I forgot the time while browsing for new music.." I rubbed my face, trying to get the sleep away. Her head snapped towards me. "Ooh! What kind of music do you listen to?" She almost shouted in my ear, making me flinch.

"U-uh, a bit of everything, I guess. Pop, Rock, Indie.." She nodded furiously. "Really?! Ever heard about The 1975?"

I furrowed my brows, thinking. "Nah, don't think so.." Her eyes widened. "Woah! You're missing out on life, they're amazing! I'll send you some links later!" I nodded, trying to seem interested. "Sure." I said, letting out a yawn.

"You should get an iced coffee from the cafeteria or something, you look awful," she said, and patted my back.

"Thanks.."

"Well, see ya later, Newbie! Don't fall asleep in class!" She called as she ran off. I waved at her lazily and walked the rest of the way to the cafeteria.

I bought an iced coffee as Hanji suggested and went over to where Armin and the others were seated.

"Hey.." I said, plumping down on a seat next to Krista.

"You look terrible," Armin said, smirking at me. I put my head down on the table and sighed. "Yeah, couldn't sleep.."

Truth was I hadn't been able to sleep lately. I had struggled with it after my mother died, but it got better after a while. However, that was until a few weeks ago. No matter how hard I tried, sleep wouldn't come and I would lay awake for hours, staring up at the ceiling.
It probably started around the time my father told us we were going to move. We were leaving everything we knew behind, and at that time we didn't know where we would end up, so I guess I got a bit overwhelmed. I didn't tell Mikasa or father about it because I didn't want to worry them. It was something I had to deal with on my own, it was my problem, not theirs.

"Better not fall asleep in class," Armin said. I waved my hand at him lazily, not wanting to raise my head or answer.

"Hey, guys." I heard Mikasa say. She was greated with a couple hello's, and I heard her pulling out a chair. I sat up slowly, running a hand through my thick brown hair. "You okay, Eren? you look like shit." Mikasa said, raising a brow at me.
