It took a lot of effort not to stop by Piper's house to see her before stopping at Camp Jupiter. However, the same could not be said for stopping by Piper's house to see Jason. Maybe it's wrong of me to do it, but I couldn't help but walk up the steps of the house.
Festus' last code of advice went through my head over and over as I stared at the door. I trust you to make the right choice. Just make sure you won't hurt anyone in the process.
With that running through my head, I stood in front of the door, holding my breath. I raised a fist up to knock when I thought of what could go wrong. In my mind, that was all I could think of. My life was Murphy's law in the flesh.
"This is stupid," I finally mutter. My fist fell to my side as I turned away. "I shouldn't have stopped for this."
The door opened as I reached the bottom step, and I froze in place. "Can I help you with something?" The voice made a sob rise in my throat, but it didn't take long for him to realize who I was.
Arms embraced me in a millisecond, and I felt a pain hit me. Still, I ignored it as I heard Jason's voice speak in a calming voice. "You're alive. You came back, Leo."
I smiled, turning around to face the blonde's gaze, trying to ignore how his hands gripped my hips tightly. "I'm Leo fucking Valdez, Bad-Boy Supreme. Did you have any doubts I would come back?"
"Never," Jason smirked, his gaze falling to my side. "You're hurt."
My eyes trailed down as well, finally noticing the blood that flowed through my shirt. A laugh escaped my lips. "I just got this shirt before I left. Gods, keeping a shirt clean is hard."
Without a word, Jason slipped his hand into my own, pulling me back towards the doorway. I didn't even try to stop him.
It was when we got to the kitchen that I hesitated. The blonde, noticing my hesitation, turned back to me with concern. His smile, however, worried me as he came closer to me.
"Jason, what are you-" the shriek that followed, sadly and embarrassingly, came from me as Jason lifted me off my feet. He then set me on top of the kitchen counter, making me exactly eye-level with him.
The blonde smiled at me, patting my thighs. "Take your shirt off. I'll go get the first aid kit to fix your side."
I wiggle my eyebrows at him. "You don't have to lie if you want to see me shirtless."
Jason rolled his eyes, walking down a hallway. When he was out of view, I covered my face in shame as I blushed. Of course I knew he didn't want to see me shirtless without a reason. Why would he?
By the time I unbuttoned my shirt, Jason walked back into the room. He put the first aid kit down, looking at the cut on my side. In all honesty, I didn't know where that came from. Maybe I fell asleep on Festus, and my side caught on a sharp piece of metal during our flight out here.
When Jason pressed a finger next to the cut, I squirmed away from him, accidentally kicking him in the stomach.
"Hey," he said, smiling kindly up at me. "It's okay. I just want to help you. When I clean it out, I want you to take it as long as you can. If you can't, just tell me. We'll take it slow. Together."
I smiled at him, watching him as he dug through the kit. Jason started disinfecting my wound carefully. It stung like Tartarus, but I didn't make him stop. I just wanted this to be over with.
Then, I heard him dig around the supplies once more. This time, he pulled out sutures.
"Jason, I don't need stitches," I say, attempting to slip past the blonde. Jason, however, held me down by my waist. "Seriously, Jase, let me up."
