Two Best Friends Can't Fall In Love....Can They?

Chapter Three:

I woke up to snoring in my ear.

"Grr, shut up" I mumbled.

"Meh" I heard Ryan grumble behind me as he snuggled closer.

"Don't you have class today Ryan" I asked knowing he had TAFE Tuesday's.

"Yeah but I don't want to go, let's just hang out today, just the two of us" Ryan mumbled.

"If you keep missing TAFE, you'll get kicked out" I mentioned.

"Nah, it's alright" he assured.

"If you say so loser" I teased.

This then resulted in Ryan tickling me, "No Ryan stop, I don't want to be tickled"

This only made jump on me and tickle me deeper, I did not realise how close we were, he was straddling me with his face near mine and he just realised as well. His face came closer as if he was going to kiss me. If he did, I would be the happiest girl alive, I wonder what his lips tasted like. Strawberries? They were his favourite fruit? Please kiss me i kept thinking, please? All of the sudden I felt something wet go against my cheek, like a tongue sliding across.

"Ryan! Thats nasty!" I shouted, but all Ryan did was hop off and crack up laughing. "You are a big meanie"

"Did you really think i was going to kiss you without your permission?" Ryan asked with seriousness in his voice.

"um, uhh i dont know" I muttered.

"Trust me, i have thought about kissing you" he whispered.

I was about to ask what he meant when we heard his mum yell out there was pancakes for breakfast.

"Lets go" he offered a hand which i accepted and we both walked downstairs and enjoyed breakfast with his family.

Julia found out about Ryan skipping TAFE which she wouldnt accept, so I ended up going home after saying my goodbyes. I would see Ryan at the bonfire later anyway and ask what he meant.

As the day went past, I spent most of it watching movies and replaying in my head what Ryan said. Does he want to kiss me or he doesnt? I dont know and this is what was confusing me so much.

Finally it was time to start getting ready for the bonfire, Ryan had messaged me saying he would pick me up in 15 minutes. Luckily i already had a shower so i just have to do my make up and shoes. I was so nervous, I didn't know what was going to happen or what he was going to say.

"Saleiah! Ryan is here" I hear my mum yell up the stairs.

"Coming" I yell back.

As I walk down the stairs I see Ryan standing there with another Rose, he looked so good, I wanted him all to myself. It didn't help that i see my mum giving me a knowing look, I just shook my head at her.

"Thank you" I whispered as I take the rose from him.

"Your welcome and you look very beautiful" He said as he gave me a kiss on the cheek, I instantly blushed as I was not expecting that.

"Lets go" I smile at him as we walk out.

He held the door open for me and I hop in buckling my seatbelt. He walks around and hops in next to me "Are we okay"

I look at him, he looked concerned. "Of course we are, we'll always be best friends"

He just nodded and started the car and drove us there. Once we got to the bonfire, there was a lot of people there, people that are in our TAFE classes and some people that we went to school with. We hop out and went to find our friends.

"Is Tegan coming?" Ryan asked

"Nah, she got called in to work" I shouted as the music was getting louder.

He just nodded and wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we walk through the crowd. I loved the feeling of his arm around mine, it made me feel safe and wanted and I know all I want is Ryan, but I cant tell him, he would just freak out and not talk to me ever again.

"Here, i made sure there wasn't any alcohol" He said as he gave me my drink.

"Thank you" I smiled at him.

"Your welcome" He smiled with his cute crooked grin. "Lets go over here"

I just nodded and followed him, for the next hour we just joked around with our friends smiling and laughing, we were having a really good time.

"Can you hold this, I need to go to the toilet" I whispered in Ryan's ear.

He just nodded and I went to find one, hating the loss of the warmth from the fire and Ryan. After i finished my business and washed my hands, I walked out and went to the spot i was sitting at only to find my friends there and not Ryan.

"Where did Ryan go?" I asked my friends

"He went to get a drink, said he would be back in a minute" my friend Lucy said.

I just nodded and sat down with her. "Ill just wait here" she just nodded and we spoke back and fourth about random things.

** Half an Hour Later **

I was constantly looking for Ryan and Lucy could see this as well.

"Go find him" Lucy said in my ear "I know you like him"

I looked at her shocked. "How can you tell?"

"It's the look in your eyes, also you haven't stopped looking for him since you came back" she smirked.

"Is that a bad thing?" I asked.

"It shows you really like him, so it cant be bad, the only way if its bad is that he doesn't like you back" she whispered.

I just nodded and stood up "I'm going to find him"

She nodded and waved to me as I was walking away to find Ryan, I started searching around the bonfire, near the toilets, near the shops but I couldn't see him anywhere. The only place I haven't checked is the wooden pier near the lake so I started towards there.

Before I reached the pier I could hear his voice and another girl voice. I look up to pier and i could see their figures but they couldn't see me.

"Do you like me?" I could hear the girl ask Ryan.

"Yeah, I wouldn't be here if I didn't" I heard him reply.

"But what about your best friend, Saleiah?" This sparked my curiosity, I really wanted to know what he was going to say.

"What about her? She's just my best friend?" And that's when my heart broke and tears welled up in my eyes.

The girl just smiled at Ryan and Ryan didn't hesitate to kiss her. They pulled each other closer swapping spit and it made me feel disgusted. I let out a quiet sob as I realised that i was to late and Ryan doesn't like me.

I started to walk backwards, I just wanted to disappear and have nothing to do with Ryan, I must have stepped on a twig to cause a snap because all of a sudden, the girls and Ryan's eyes were on me with tears down my face.

"Saleiah!" That was the last thing I heard Ryan yell as I was running away.
