I had my eyes closed for just a second, but sometimes a second can be too long.

"Saleiah! Watch Out!" I heard Ryan scream.

I look out onto the road and I could see a tree laying across the road which must have been knocked down by the storm, but I was to late, I couldn't brake quick enough, my foot on the brake was all the way down but I still hit the tree. The impact of hitting the tree and the wetness of the road made the car flip over the tree trunk and made us roll a few times. Everything went black.

I woke groggily looking around me, with a hand to my forehead I felt something wet. I looked at my fingers that were now covered with deep crimson blood.

"What?" I choked out.

I look around me, I see red and blue lights flashing, broken glass, people rushing everywhere.

"Ryan" I choked out again as I realised that he was beside me.

He did not look good, he wasn't even awake.

"Ryan wake up" I finally got my words out screaming.

"Please Ryan wake up" I screamed.

"Miss we need you to stay calm, he is alive but we need to get him to the hospital. The same for you" A stranger dressed in an ambulance uniform said.

"Is he okay?" I cried.

"We don't know yet, he needs medical help right away" he replied before he went around to help Ryan.

I look at Ryan closely, I could see his chest rise and fall but he looked weak. He had heaps of cuts all over him, he was hunched over with the seatbelt straining against his chest. He had lots of blood running of his cheeks.

"I'm so sorry Ryan" I cried.

"Okay Miss, and we're gonna get you out and get you in the ambulance to take you to the hospital" the same ambulance guy said.

"Can you get Ryan first, don't worry about me" I cried.

"He is getting out as well, you both will be sent to the same hospital. Please let do our job as you both need some medical attention" he asked.

I just nodded and let him help me out of my car and onto a stretcher. I looked over and seen that Ryan was out as well.

I let out a cry when I seen his face, it looked so motionless and pale, cuts and blood everywhere. Then I was surrounded by the ambulance walls. That's all I remember before blacking out again.

"How could we be this stupid to let them go when there was a storm" I hear someone cry, I think it was mum.

"Honey we didn't know and besides baby they are safe drivers" I hear dad as well.

I opened my eyes, blinking at how bright the white walls were.

"Mum, dad" I croaked out.

"Oh darling your awake!" Mum cried as she hugged me.

"Ow mum my arm hurts" I said in pain.

"Oh I'm sorry baby" she said.

"I'll go get the doctor" my dad mentioned before walking out.

"Do you remember what happened honey" my mum asked me.

I just nodded and let a few tears escape my eyes.

"How is he" I asked, hopefully he was okay.

"His alive and the doctors did everything they could" she whispered.

"What do you mean?" I asked worried.

"He got a lot of shattered glass in his eyes. They had to operate to take it all out. Doctors say his eyes should heal but for now..... his blind" she said slowly making sure I was okay.

As soon as I heard the word blind, I broke down crying. This was all my fault, I was yawning when I should have been focused on the road. We should have waited for the storm to pass but we just wanted to get there.

"Baby his eyes will heal in time tho" mum said trying to soothe me.

"Are you sure" I asked.

She nodded and dad walked back in with the doctor behind him.

"Lovely your awake" the doctor first said. "Saleiah do you know where you are"

"In the hospital" I replied.

"Can you remember what happened?" He asked

"I hit a tree truck with my car, I tried to brake but the roads were wet" I said quietly.

"Luckily the only thing you have is a broken arm and few cuts and bruises. The passenger Ryan on the other hand is in worse condition. He is awake but already is in a bad shape and stressing. He has lost his sight, not permanently tho" the doctor explained. "You both are lucky to be alive"

"Thank you doctor, when can I see Ryan?" I asked.

"We have to sign some papers for you, you are allowed to be let go, but that's when you can visit him" the doctor explained again before walking out with my dad to sign paperwork.

"Is this my fault mum" I cried.

"No honey, it was just an accident" mum held me.

"I hope he doesn't hate me" I cried.

"Ryan can never hate you baby, it was an accident" mum soothed.

"Where are we mum?" I asked.

"Canberra hospital, since its closer" she mentioned "tomorrow Ryan is being transported to our Sydney hospital, you will come back with us"

"Did you drive down?" I asked.

"Yes as soon as we heard" mum replied.

I just nodded, I had a headache so I decided to close my eyes for a bit. This is what it was like for Ryan now, pure darkness. The thought of him like made me cry again.

This is all my fault, I should've let Ryan keep driving because I was tired, we should have waited for the storm to pass. What if we had waited and what if Ryan was driving then maybe this wouldn't have happened. It's all my fault.

I heard my dad walk back in whispering hey to my mum.

"Can I see him" I whispered.

"Yeah, you can darling" dad replied.

So I opened my eyes and got ready to hop out of bed, I changed into my normal clothes and redid my hair, my mum carried my clothes and they helped me walk down to Ryan's door.

"Is his mum here?" I asked and they nodded.

I took a deep breath and then knocked on his door.
