Two Best Friends Can't Fall In Love....Can They?

Chapter Four: Ryan's P.O.V

After Saleiah said she needed to go to the toilet, i was thirsty so I went to get a drink, the bar was busy so I decided to ignore getting a drink. As I turned around, there was a girl behind me, a very beautiful girl with now a wet patch on her shirt.

"You idiot!" She yelled and then looked at me "Oh, I'm sorry Ryan, it was a mistake" The girl who I recognise as Ainslee, she was one of my mates sister. She has always had a crush on me.

"Oh hey Ainslee, I'm so sorry for spilling your drink and ruining your shirt" I apologised.

"Um yeah that was kinda your fault" She laughed.

"Oh yeah" I laughed with her "Um want to go for a walk?"

She just nodded and followed me, I walked us around the lake and stood by the wooden pier.

"Is this okay? Or do you want to be by the fire?" I asked.

"Oh this is fine Ryan, just as long as I'm with you" she blushed.

I couldn't help but stare at her cheeks blushing, then I found myself comparing them to Saleiah's. Sal would blush like crazy around me when we were together, especially they other day when I teased her nearly kissing her. She was as red as a tomato.

"Really?" I asked.

She nodded and looked down at her feet. I didn't know what to say.

"--like me" I heard the end of what Ainslee was saying.

"Sorry what did you say" I questioned.

"Do you like me?" She asked me again.

I had to quickly think of something, here I had a chance to have something with this girl and I knew that I could be myself with her, I couldn't have that with Saleiah, she's my best friend, it would just be to weird.

"Yeah, I wouldn't be here if I didn't" I quickly replied without thinking it over in my head.

"But what about your best friend, Saleiah?" Why would she be asking me about Saleiah? She doesn't know does she? This can't happen because I know nothing will happen.

"What about her? She's just my best friend?" Why did I say that? Why?

The next minute she was smiling at me and I didn't want her to ask anything else, so I just kissed her. Probably wasn't the best decision but I always freak out, Saleiah was the only one that made me feel confident.

I heard a snap noise and quickly turned towards the sound, my heart broke when I seen her. She had tears down her face.

"Saleiah" I yelled as I ran to catch up to her.

The one thing that did confuse me was why was she crying? Why did she look heartbroken? Maybe someone had hurt her at the party. It wasn't possible that she was liked me as well, was it?

"Wait please Sal, let me talk to you" I chased her.

"Go away Ryan, I want to be left alone" she shouted.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing" she muttered as she still kept walking away from me.

"Are you sure you want me to leave you alone?" I asked her.

She just nodded and walked away into the darkness.

"Let me know if your safe" I shouted before she disappeared.

"Don't let me bother your relationship, you shouldn't have lied" Ainslee said behind me.

"What are you talking about" I muttered.

"She likes you, you can tell by how heartbroken she was" she whispered to me "I don't want to get in between that so I'll see you later"

"I'm sorry" I whispered back to her.

She smiled then nodded and walked off. What have I done? How did I manage to upset two girls, one of them meaning so much to me. It hurt to see her upset, tears down her cheeks.

I grabbed my phone out of my pocket dialling Saleiah's number "please pick up baby"

Ring ring... ring ring... ring ring... "You have reached the voicemail of Saleiah, leave a message"

"Please pick up, I need to see you Saleiah, I need to know why you were upset, please see me" I said as I ended the call and went to look for my car. I was going to find her and talk to her.

It was probably late, and she's walking around by herself in the dark. I hope she was okay.

I finally found my car, unlocking it and quickly jumping in to start the car. I pulled out and started looking around.

***2 hours & 15 missed calls later ***

I have called her so many times! All of them leaving a voicemail.

"Arggh!" I yelled in frustration "Pick up please"

I was still driving around looking for Saleiah but I had no clue where she would be. I have no choice but to go to her house.

Once I pulled up in front of her house, I walked up to the front door feeling really nervous.

Knock knock knock

I hear voices inside so I knew someone would be awake. The door opened and Saleiah's mum, Lesley answered.

"Ryan, it's late, what are you doing here?" She said sounding confused.

"Is Sal here?" I asked.

"Yeah she came home an hour ago" I sighed with relief when I heard that.

"Can I speak to her" I questioned.

"Now probably is not the best time Ryan, she came home very upset" she looked at me sympathetic.

"Please" I pleaded.

"1 minute boy" I heard Sal's dad, Bruce.

I nodded and headed up to her room.

Knock knock knock

"Mum, I'm okay, you don't have to worry about me. I'm fine" I heard Sal through the door.

"Saleiah" I faintly hear her gasp. "Please let me in"

"Who let you up?" She asked quietly.

"I'll give you one guess" I try to joke lightly.

"Dammit Bruce" I chuckle when I hear her use her dads name.

That's when I hear the lock change and door started to open. When I seen her, my heart broke to realise she's been crying again.
