I sighed and walked to my den. It was lit by the moon, directly to my spot. I yawned and fell into the moss beneath me. It felt good on my tired mentally and physically body. I fluttered my eyes a bit until I fell into a deep sleep.
Howling filled the room. Pained whimpers and cries.
"SHUT UP YOU STUPID ANIMALS!" A man screamed, hitting a small pups cage. The wolves went quiet, not wanting to anger their captor any more.
One wolf was being dragged out, he was fighting back.
The humans left the room with a thud.
"Spirit, is she here?" A familiar voice whispered.
"Yes, she is here. Is this Frost's alpha I am communicating with?"
"Uh, yes I am Frosts alpha. Is she Ok?" I asked.
"For now, yes. We need you to remember this- We are near the Forgotten Forest, closest to the humans territory. Come and find us. We will escape in 24 hours starting at the rise of the sun, bring your whole pack too we will explain later."
I woke with a jump.
My chest pounded as I sat up. Only a powerful, Hollowed wolf could create a contracted message like that. It was still dark, everything quiet with in the den.
I stood up. I realised the pups had gone into my den. They were all asleep. Laughing, I stood up and went into the dining room. My stomach felt uneasy and I knew food helped me think.
"Hey Alpha!" I heard a familiar, loud voice. Splinter.
"Hello Splinter." I rolled my eyes.
"Midnight munchies eh?" She nudged my shoulder.
"Oh shut up you should be asleep!" I growled.
"Pfft, says you." She joked. Normally, I would snap or growl if a wolf spoke back to me. It was a sign to stop, a show of dominance. Splinter is a close friend, so a small roll of the eyes told her.
"So, why are you up anyway?" She sat in front of me.
"I...I think I need some advice." I rested my head on my paws.
"What do you need?" Splinter bit into a bone, causing bone marrow to osse out.
"Maybe, if a wolf contacted me through a dream, meaning that they were powerful, and asked me to help, what would I do?" I yawned.
"Well, is that friend near the Forgotten Forest?" She tore apart the bone in her paws.
"What? You- you..." I looked at Splinter.
"Yeah, Evie just went back to sleep but I got up. Angel was walking around a bit too." She sat there like it was normal.
"So you got the message too?" I gave a look of confusion to her.
"Yep, pretty much most of the pack did. So I think we should help frost and her friend. She's a part of the pack, isn't she?" Splinter sat up.
I thought for a second. What should I do? More than likely there would be corrupted wolves there, and broken ones, but isn't that what I should do? I could re-grow the pack, but at what cost? We have already lost over 10 wolves, and the pups need more protection and food...
"We should be helping her! Thank you Splinter!" I sat up, smiling at her.
"Ok, see ya later."
"See you."
I wandered back to my den. I heard some form of howling, not very good though. I shrugged it off, only for it to get louder and more irritating.
I followed its ear piercing sounds. It lead directly to Acids part of the den
"Hey, Acid what are you doing?" I asked, going towards him and the window.
"Uh I-I" He stuttered more.
"Didn't your parents teach you to howl?" I giggled. It was a simple thing to teach, but yet he wasn't even thought that.
"N-no. Fa-ather nev-ver sa-w th-the nee-ed." He looked down, even more embarrassed.
"Hehe, looks like I'll have to teach you."
"O-ok"
"So, it comes from the stomach, not your throat. You would sound deeper than me, but that's fine. Completely normal. Just be careful that you don't start a huge howl, especially at night." I explained. He sat there, watching intently.
"So, like this-" He set off a quite loud, but shaky howl. I followed on. I heard a distinct howl from Splinter and Evie. Soon, all the pack was howling. I also heard distant howls, probably from the Coastal pack who heard us.
After it died down, all you could see was a huge grin on Acids face.
"Y-ou let m-me le-ead?" He smiled.
"Yep. Don't get used to it though. I am alpha" I walked out, feeling a lot better. I fell into my bed, the puppies crawling close for warmth.
