Emerson's POV
Friday
It's now the end of the week, which I'm glad it is. School has been so stressful, everyone has been asking where I have been. Of course I tell them lies, since that's, which I'm good at. Also I've been training everyday after school till ten at night."Em, did you here me?" Annie said tapping on my shoulder. I turned back towards her, making sure I was listening. "Where should Roman and I go for our date?" I didn't really care about this but, I was her best friend so, I had to care.
"How about the movies?" I suggested, it was classic but Annie loves the classic stuff. "Or maybe, a fine dinner" the thought of food made my stomach growl.
"You're right, they both sound lovely" she cheered. I glanced over at her, while rolling my eyes.
"Yeah, of course they are" I said sarcastically. She playfully smacked my arm as we giggled. My phone buzzed in my pocket, so I reached in and pulled it out.
Arch- *hey, can you leave school*
E-*I'm at lunch, I might be able to*
Arch-*good, be there soon*"Who's that?" Annie said glancing over at my phone. I put my phone back in my pocket before telling her.
"Archer, he's coming to pick me up" I grabbed a tator tot off my plate. "He didn't say why" I said confused.
"That's strange" Annie stated. I shrugged my shoulders and went back to eating.
Ten minutes later, my name was called over the intercom. "Emerson Kendall, please come to the office with your stuff" my locker was on the way to the office so I grabbed my stuff from there first.
"Hey" I said cheerily as I stepped in the office. Archer smiled and walked us out to his car. "So what's up?" I said getting in his mustang.
"How do you feel about more training?" I rolled my eyes and groaned. "I take that as a yes" he laugh. We didn't speak till we pulled up to Never Tap Out.
"So, why did you check me out of school, when I could come later today?" I said walking into the building.
"If we waited, then you wouldn't have time for your match" he smirked. A huge smile spread across my face.
"You mean?" He nodded his head yes. I couldn't control my excitement. "When?" I said calming down a bit.
"Tonight, at seven" we started putting on our gear to start practicing. "Alright, let's get started" he started showing me moves, me following every move.
(6:50 pm)
"Are you ready?" Archer yelled, trying to pump me up. I nodded my head letting him know that I was. "Remember one thing?" I nodded my head once again. "Never Tap Out" I smiled and pecked his lips. "Good luck" he whispered."In this corner we have your undefeated, Layla Jensen" I stick my mouth guard in waiting for my name to be called. "In this corner our new fighter, Emerson Kendall" the other girl Layla, stared me down. "Are you ready?" The referee asked, we nodded our heads signaling a yes. "Fight" he said motioning between us.
We pranced around the octagon for sometime. She threw her first punch knocking me in the face. I shook it off like it never happened. "Come on Em" I heard Archer yell. "Just like I showed you" my mind remembered the combos he taught me.
Left, right, duck, kick, knee, and right. I did as my brain remembered. When I went to duck, her knee caught my face. The crowd screamed for her. Come on Em you got this, just like Arch taught you. I started my combo again, making sure to block her knee. I kicked with my right foot, she tumbled over almost losing her balance.
My knee came up making her fall to the ground. I kept going back in forth with each fist. The crowd roared, my name was being yelled by everyone. She stood back to her feet, starting round two. The second round, was a little harder for me. She knew my moves, I had to be tricky when filtering them. Right, right, knee, left, and kick. I made a new combo up.
None of them fazed her, she hit me with all of her combos. I fell to the ground as her fist started pounding my face, I blocked most of them though. When round three started, I knew I wasn't giving up. She started the match, once again with her combos. I was hit only twice, remembering all of her moves. I hit her with three right hooks, she was fazed by two. Her hits became sloppy, no effort whatsoever.
"Finish her" Archer yelled. I did as he said, hitting her with two left kicks. She fell to the ground, but I wasn't finished. I grabbed her arm, wrapping it in an arm- bar. She struggled to get out, she couldn't. I had it to tight on her, I felt her hand hit the mat several times. The referee waved me to get off. I stood with accomplishment on my face.
"The winner and new champion, Emerson Kendall" the referee grabbed my hand and raised it toward the ceiling. The crowd went wild, as I tried to catch my breath.
"That's my girl" Archer said pulling me in for a hug. "I knew you could do it" he said pulling away. A smiled as wide as I could. "Let's go get you cleaned up" he suggested, I followed him where he lead.
"I did it" I said as Archer wiped the blood off my face. He smiled kissing my forehead. "We should celebrate" I laughed.
"Yes, I like the way you think" I reached up and pulled him in for a kiss. "How about we celebrate tomorrow night, party at my house?" I nodded my head yes, smile still on my face. I, Emerson Jane Kendall, just won my first match.
Her first match yay....😂🦄
