Location: New York City, New York, USA
Time: 10:35p.m.
Date: September 1
Year: 2197"It's not done! He needs more time!"
"What do you mean he needs more time?
He's fine!"
"You don't understand, I need run more background checks!"
"Indigo, calm down. We can test it and see if it's really ready or not,"
"Fine, but if this test fails I have to start project JK6991 all over again,"Indigo, the mahogany-toned, young woman with thin golden glasses, and her partner in crime Jin, a tall guy with broad shoulders and wavy, blond hair, stepped foot in their large laboratory full of odd equipment and various humanoids floating in a liquid held in cylindrical capsules. The two partners walk to an air-tight steel door that was locked shut. Indigo takes a deep breath while feeling her adrenaline slowly rise and her heart beating faster than ever. Her shaky palms land on the hand pad sitting right next to the door. The machine scans her handprint and the door opens with a loud noise, causing smoke to pour out into the room they're standing in. The two scientists mildly cough from inhaling the fumes, trying to fan the substance away from them with their hands. Alas, when the smoke clears, a very still and human-like structure appears shining in the light above floating in mid air through a window pane.
Indigo was fascinated by her work. Her eyes rest on his physique, the pattern of his machinery and the flesh of his anatomy wowed the scientist. Jin was also entranced at staring at the robot boy with his mouth hung open.
"He's-he's basic!"
"Perfect in the face? Be real Jin."
"I see a human with no distinction! A regular! He's far too plain."
"How does appearance change the way he is perceived?"
"He's not intimidating at all! What's the use of having a weapon if it doesn't look scary?"
"I didn't build a weapon, Jin. I built a person."
"Whatever, Ms. Blue. I'll go along with this, but god forbid it backfires-!"
"Ok Professor, we don't need your little lecture about MY creation."
"Forget it. Now let's test this thing out."The two scientists trudge to a control room with a variety of buttons and lights. There were about four desks, only three were used for the analysts and recorders. This was supposed to be an off day for them but unfortunately, the figure needed to be complete now! The only persons present were recorders Jimin Park, Jisoo Kim and the analyst Roseanne Park. "We're set?" Jin asked Roseanne with his back turned from her gazing at the machine. "Set!"
Indigo proceeded to nervously flick a switch opening a glass case with a big, green button glowing in her presence. She takes another deep breath while sweating bullets through her forehead. Her hands tremble under its luminescence as she gets closer and closer causing Jin to grab her on the wrist. "You got this, I know you do, Indigo," he coos before letting go.
Indigo takes one last deep breath before pressing the green button. The control center lights slowly dim as the light from the ceiling appears glowing through the window pane. The figure arises and floats in mid-air, its shiny metal reflecting off of the light. The android arched its back stretching its arms, the image resembling a crucifixion. A high pitched noise rang in the scientists' ears.
All of a sudden, the ground starts to rumble causing books and boxes to knock off of the shelves which didn't bother Jin and Indigo because they were so numb to it. Buttons flicker on and off and the lights start to swing from left to right. The robot glistens as the machinery on him starts to generate. "It's- it's working," Indigo says, clasping her hands over her mouth.
The automaton's eyes open beaming white light as wind starts to blow through the ceiling. They could see the dust particles and matter hit the window pane but remain focused on the world's next big thing.
Everything comes to a stop when the robot slowly glides down from mid-air setting foot on the floor. The members were all shocked, rushing down the steps that led to the floor of the spacious, white test room.
"Is this real?"
"No shit, Roseanne, it's obvious."
"Aye, no swearing Chim Chim!"
"We get it, Jin!"
"It's not moving."The robot laid there as lifeless as a statue. Surprisingly, the project's index finger starts to wiggle.
"Oh my fucking god! It's alive!"
"Swearing!"
"Oh, sorry Jin."The members hover around the subject. The robot was stirring in his slumber forcing his eyes to adjust to the light making him squint.
"Um, hello earthling."
"It doesn't speak English, pabo."
"Whatever Jisoo."
"JK6991, stand."The robot instantly stands on its two feet causing the group to back up.
"So it understands commands from the owner but doesn't know English?"
"Roseanne!"
"The commands he'll soon be able to read will be in Korean, English, French, German, Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese."
"Does it recognize voices though?"
"Any voice, sir Jin."
"JK, look at me."The robot turns its head to Indigo which makes the group gasp in awe.
"This is unbelievable! I worked so hard on him I thought all the test drives we've gone through weren't gonna make it! Thank god!"
"This is astounding!" Jisoo exclaims, analyzing the machine.
"The first human/robot hybrid? And I get to record it? What'll we do from here?" Jimin asks from the back.
"We train it."
"What? We thought it would already-"
"You thought Jimin, I knew."
"Well I didn't." Roseanne chimed in.
"So you and your wife are clueless."
"I was clueless of this too." Jisoo includes.
"Wow, even you." Jin laughs slapping his hand to his face.
"I didn't mean like, the basic stuff, I mean, how to fight and strategize."
"Well that's left up to this hard drive I created for him. He'll have information on it for his system. But there is room for information he'll learn as he lives,"
"Like a real human..."
"What's his name?"
"JK6991."
"No, he needs a name, something we can call him."
"JK?"
"You're so basic, Jimin."
"So are you Rosé."
"Can you two stop being the ridiculous fools y'all are and think of a name?"
"Whatever, Jisoo!"
"What do you have in mind, Blue?"
"I'm thinking it doesn't matter. I only hope he doesn't explode like the last one."
"Indigo, you're so pessimistic!"
"Well I'm doing the best I can, Jimin!"
"Hey, let's not ingest bullshit into JK now!"The room grew silent staring at the precise and silent humanoid in front of them with their own thoughts wandering.
"What are we gonna do with it?" Rosé asks.
"Him. And let's just get some rest, I have to teach him how to live." Indigo begins pulling him to a large pod.
"For how long?" Jimin asks as well.
"As long as possible...".
