Chapter 6

Nicola's POV

"Nicola" Nadine asked me as we walked into a new building "what did you do?".

I turned around to see pure elation on my friends face. Since I'd arrived I hadn't seen her look so happy and I was so glad that I was able to see that. Nothing was more beautiful than a genuine smile from Nadine.

"Hi ladies, how may we help you this afternoon" an attendant asked us as we approached the front desk.

"I have a booking under the name Roberts" I told her, Nadine standing behind me looking a little bit more than confused.

"Of course" the lady smiled at us "just follow me and we'll get started".

Led by the attendant, we began to make our way down a long halfway.

"Nicola, what is all of this", Nadine asked me again.

Before I could respond  and explain the Lady did so for me.

"Welcome to an afternoon of full spa treatment, everything has been taken care of so please enjoy our full range of massages, Mani Pedi's and facials. The complete list is just on that wall over there, so just take a seat and someone will be with you shortly".

I thanked the lady and smiled at Nadine before taking my seat down on the lush leather sofa

"That's what is going on" I laughed as I looked up at her.

She looked absolutely shocked, and if I wasn't mistaken her eyes watered a little bit.

"You know we've never done anything like this together" she said to me, taking her seat next to me. " I mean, with the other girls maybe but never on our own".

It was true, Nadine and I were never as close to one another as we were were with other girls. Not being close though also meant we rarely argued. Most of the time we were on the same page, we both had similar opinions and visions regarding the band, and we both had similar values when it came to everything else.

"Well it's about time we started then" I told her.

She looked up at me from under her eyelashes with a smile that beamed from her face. Her smile made my heart flutter, the fact that I put it there made my chest feel all warm.

I took in a deep breath and looked away, I wanted to think that this was normal, but I couldn't deny that there was something else going on here. Friendship wasn't supposed to feel like this. In fact I hadn't felt this elated since I first got with Charlie.

The second Charlie crossed my mind I felt my mood drop slightly, and this didn't go unnoticed by Nadine. She'd been a great distraction these last few days, but distracting me from the pain wasn't going to remove it.

I knew that if we were left alone for much longer Nadine would without a doubt ask me what was wrong again. Since our conversation the other night she has been both curious and concerned about me. She’d been great though, not pushing me to say anything, just letting me know that she was there for me.

Before she was able to say anything to me I stood up and decided to order our treatments.

"So, I think we'll start with massages? I'll just go find the lady".

"Oh my God!" Nadine sighed sighed as we walked out of the salon. "Nic, that was so amazing, I feel so much better now".

I couldn't help but smile back at her. I was glad I'd gotten to do this with her but now I needed to tell her that it wasn't actually my idea or surprise.

We began to make our way up the quiet streets of this end of LA. I was thankful that the salon was in a quieter area, Nadine had often mentioned that she would get lapped out in the city sometimes.

"When did you organise this?" She asked me, linking her arm through mine as we walked down the path "how did you even know about that Salon?".

"Actually ..." I sighed, tightening the link between our arms "it wasn't my idea, I didn't really plan it".

We took a few more steps before she stopped us both abruptly and turned her head slightly to face me so she could see me better.

"If you didn't than who would have?" She asked, her voice laced with confusion and disappointment.

I turned my head so I could face her too. Her confusion actually puzzled me a little bit, how could she not guess?

"It was Jason" I told her, as if it was the obvious thing.

"Oh" she turned away from me, trying to hide the clear disappointment on her face.

"He said he wanted to surprise you tonight, so he organised this to relax you today" I explained to her.

I had decided that I didn't want my presence here to cause any conflict between the two of them so I had asked Jason why he was so upset with having me here. He'd told me he wasn't upset because I was here, my arrival had just clashed with some plans that he'd made for himself and Nadine.

I tried to get him to ask me but he wouldn't tell me because it was a surprise. So instead he suggested that I could take her put for the day so he could finish planning the finer details of the surprise.
