Lucille's POV
Leia, Chewie, Han, and myself stood in the large cavern of the cold Jedi temple. Ezra had disappeared, and Luke had walked into the caves. The door, which was unfrozen, had now frozen three fourths of the way down. Whatever the boys were doing, they needed to do it fast.
"How much longer do we have?" Leia asked me.
"I'd say the door closes in a couple of hours," I replied.
"A couple of hours? What if Luke doesn't get out?" Han asked.
"Then they will stay in the tunnels for one rotation," I explained.
"A rotation on Ilum lasts for 18 hours!" Leia exclaimed.
"Be calm. Jedi padawans went in there to retrieve their kyber crystals. They came out in time, I imagine someone as grown up as Luke shouldn't have a problem," I said.
"Yes, Luke shouldn't have a problem."
Everyone in the room gasped as we quickly turned to see none other than Ezra Bridger standing behind us. He looked as calm as could be, as if he hadn't just disappeared for hours and had just shown up out of nowhere. Dastardly Jedis and their stupid parlor tricks.
"Ezra! You couldn't have been just a tad quieter? I mean, we only barely had a heart attack!" I half yelled at my blue haired accomplice.
"Luke should come out any minute," was all that Ezra said in reply. "Then, we can go back to Coruscant."
Just as Ezra had finished the last word, Luke came stumbling out of the cave entrance. "Luke!" Leia called out with relief. But instead of Luke acknowledging his sister, he looked straight to Ezra. "None of this was for the Force?"
Everyone fell into a stunned silence. I had no idea what Luke was talking about, and I looked to Ezra with confusion. He was the only one in the room without a confused face. "What is he talking about, Ezra?" I asked the Jedi.
Instead of answering right away, Ezra took time to look at each individual's face, ending with Luke. "So, he told you, didn't he?"
"Told him what?" I asked.
"It wasn't the cosmic Force who asked us to help Luke, Lucy. It was Darth Vader, or Anakin Skywalker. Whatever you perfer," Ezra said to me.
"Wait, our father set this journey up?" Leia asked.
"Yes, he did," Ezra confirmed. "He wanted to help you two build up a new government, and a new Jedi Order."
"Why do I always get pulled into these types of jobs?" I muttered under my breath.
"Well, it's not like Palpatine asked us to do it," Ezra pointed out.
"Did you find the answers you were looking for?" I asked Luke, ignoring Ezra.
Luke looked to the ground for a prolonged period of time, his eyes drifting off to who knows where. "I think I have a place to start," he finally said.
"Wonderful," I said. "Shall we head back to Coruscant?"
As soon as I spoke, a beeping started coming from Leia's belt. She reached down to pull out her communicator. "This is Leia. Report," the princess ordered.
A crackly voice replied, almost covered completely by static. "Coruscant--- attack---fire---Empire supporters---need help now."
The transmission cut off suddenly, a somber mood now filling the room. "Coruscant is under attack. We have to go now!" Leia ordered.
"Argh!" Chewbacca yelled out in agreement. Ezra and I stood by each other as we watched the others exit the cave. We both understood Coruscant was not our fight. Our mission was to led Luke to answers. He had confronted his father, and he had received answers. We were done.
"Do you think they will last?" I asked Ezra.
"They remind me far too much of us," he replied.
"That's a scary thought," I scoffed.
Then, Luke came running back into the cave, stopping before us. "Aren't you guys coming?" he asked, a tad winded.
"We have completed our job," I started.
"We were to help you reach answers about how you should lead the new Jedi Order. You said you have a place to start. Therefore, we are done," Ezra finished.
"So you two are just going to walk out on the galaxy? You both fought in the Rebellion! Don't you want to see the galaxy rebuild?" Luke asked.
"We fought in the Rebellion, yes. But then we experienced loss. We found out nothing is as simple as it seems. We left the Rebellion, Luke. And that means not staying around to see it rebuild," I said.
"You have a Jedi Order to rebuild, Imperials to fight, a capital planet to save. You no longer need us," Ezra said. "We are not meant to be there beside you."
"But- but what if I need advice? What if I don't know the answers?" Luke asked, exasperated.
"No Jedi knows the answer to everything. That is why there is the Force, to guide you along the right path," Ezra said.
"It is your job to open up to the Force and allow yourself to learn from its teachings," I explained.
Luke paused for a few moments before continuing. "So, am I just supposed to leave you here?"
"I have that covered," Ezra said.
"Oh, you do?" I asked.
"You know I have been looking to contact Sabine since we left Lothal," Ezra said.
"And?"
"What did you think I was doing when I disappeared?" Ezra asked with a smirk.
"You actually called Sabine?" I scoffed. "Well, Luke, it seems we have a way to leave. Now, you have a galaxy to save."
Luke gave each of us a look. "Is there anyway I can contact you two?"
"The Force can help you with that," Ezra said.
Luke gave us each a nod before running back off to the others.
"I just hope that kid doesn't blow up the universe," I muttered.
"I do believe that was the goal since the beginning."
