Disclaimer: I do not own PJO or HoO. I merely wish that Rick Riordan could employ authors who have written beautiful pieces of PJO fanfic to write for him more tales, and I hope that if he does, I am one of them.

Nick’s POV

When I woke up the next morning it was to the sound of water. Yes, water. I hadn’t realised it yesterday, but there was a small saltwater basin on one of the desks, water being filtered out and refilled by magical means.

Gods, I loved this cabin.

Percy was sleeping on the bunk opposite, the only other member of the cabin except for me. Percy had said we had a half-brother who liked to stay sometimes when he wasn’t at our dad’s palace being a blacksmith and the General of the Cyclopes army.

I rubbed my eyes, still sleepy, when I saw a sight that made my hair stand up and make me question whether I was still asleep or not.

The cabin door opened and closed, without anything being there to do those actions! I watched, awed and a little scared, as light footsteps could be heard. I finally decided that this was something of I bad dream or I was hallucinating and groaned.

Suddenly, Percy woke up, and he burst out into laughter. ‘You alright, Nick?’

I was puzzled. Annabeth was sitting on him, her curly hair falling down, a smile on her face and a hat in her hand. ‘Sorry if I surprised you Nick,’ she apologized, holding her hat up for me to see. It was a Yankee’s cap. I wasn’t that much a fan of baseball anyway, my favourite sport being cricket. ‘My mom gave this to me a long time ago. It lets the user become invisible as long as it is on their head.’

My attention was captured. ‘Invisible? That is so cool!’

Annabeth looked pleased and was about to say something but Percy pulled her down into him. ‘Urgh, I think I’m gonna go guys,’ I muttered when I saw, or rather heard, what they were doing. I don’t know if they heard or not, but I walked outside.

The sky was cloudless again and the sun had already risen. I idly wondered where my cousins were, and decided that if they weren’t eating they would be sleeping. I chuckled to myself. Desmond and I had been friends for a while, and even though we had barely known each other Will was one of my closest friends now.

There was a cough from behind me and I whirled around, my hands up and ready to fight, but all I saw was a girl with blonde hair and with green eyes. Wait, I knew her…

‘Caitlyn?’

‘Nick?’

We both blurted each other’s names at the same time. Caitlyn had been a girl who went to my school a few months ago before I had to move from schools again. She was an average academic, but she was nice enough, and also my crush.

Yeah, I fell in love with her, but I had never had a chance with her, or so I thought. Right now she was looking at me, fidgeting and looking nervous. ‘What are you doing here?’ I asked.

She smiled. ‘I’m a child of Aphrodite.’

I nodded, pretending to understand, but my Greek mythology was not as great as Will’s. If I had to hear him go on about another story I would have throttled him… but not if he had talked about Aphrodite at all.

I smiled and turned around, but she caught my hand. ‘Nick, I’ve wanted to ask you, do you want to go out with me?’

Her words hit me and I couldn’t believe them. I turned around. ‘What did you say?’

She smiled at me, and I was awestruck. ‘I said, would you like to go out with me, Nick Harris?’

I nodded slowly, and she smiled, kissed me on the cheek, and skipped away. ‘I’ll see you later,’ she called back.
