After Jackson and everyone had left, Ada returned to the kitchen with Pepper and Obadiah.

"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Ada, Happy Birthday to you," the two chorused.

She blew out her candles, and made a wish that would seem simple enough, but to her, it would be nearly impossible.

I wish Tony would pay attention to me and actually care about me, she thought.

The three cut into the cake and each had a slice. After that, Ada went up to her room and got ready for bed. It was weird changing out of the beautiful dress she had on, but regardless still did so.She collapsed on her bed and was immediately out.

-----------------

The next morning Ada woke up on her own surprisingly. Usually Pepper would get her up, or Tony would have Jarvis wake her up. Heaven knows he wouldn't get her up himself. She stood up and listened to the crash of waves beneath her as light flooded through her windows.  She headed downstairs and grabbed herself some cereal. She slowly ate her breakfast. She would normally have the Tv on, but she for some reason just didn't feel like making the journey into the living room to get the remote. Pepper finally walked in.

"Good morning, Ada," she greeted.

"Morning, Pepper," Ada responded.

"How are you today? Are you going surfing soon?" Pepper asked.

"I'm good, and as soon as I get done with breakfast," she answered.

Ada got up and changed into her swim suit. She grabbed her board and headed to the beach. She wasn't surprised when she found that Jackson was there. She smiled as he came up to her.

"Hey," he greeted.

He used his hand to slick his soaked hair back. Beads of water trickled down his skin.

"Hey," she replied.

"Ready to catch some waves?" he asked.

"Are you ready to get shown how it's done by a girl?" she smirked.

"Oh, you're gonna regret that," he laughed as they both ran towards the water, boards in hand.

The jumped into the water and a huge waved started forming out.

"You ready?" he smiled.

"You bet it," she responded.

She started paddling and stood on her board. She started riding the wave in the shore, but an amazing experience captivated her before that. She saw that she had ended up in the tunnel of the wave. She looked around her and stuck her hand out to skim across the water. The way the sunlight hit the water captivated her as she started around in utter awe and wonder. She eventually ended back up on shoes and was met by Jackson already there.

Today is going to be good, she thought to herself.

----------------

It was later that afternoon, Ada was in her room and had just finished her online courses. She was now reading a book while sitting in her balcony's hanging chair. She closed the book and went back into her room. She sat on the couch in her room and turned the Tv on to watch iCarly. A knock on the door brought her attention to whatever was knocking on the door.

"It's open," Ada yelled through the door.

Pepper came in and walked over to the couch to sit down next to her.

"Ada," she greeted.

"Pepper," Ada replied.

"Well, you know bad things happen," she started.

"Yeah?" Ada responded, not knowing where this was going.

"But it doesn't matter how bad it is that makes it bad. It's how we react to it that causes damage."

"Where are you going with this Pepper?" Ada asked.

"Freak stuff can happen that causes huge problems for everyone, but we still have to trudge on."

"Pepper, just spit it out," Ada whispered, preparing herself for whatever happened.

"It's Tony. After the weapons demonstration yesterday, he was heading back in the army vehicle, but they were attacked, and...and," Pepper cried.

"What happened to Dad?" she asked as tears started to form very little.

"He was kidnapped by the attackers and presumably dead."

At this Ada raced out of her room, down to the garage, and ran over to here convertible. The convertible he got her. She started it up.

"Jarvis close the garage door after me," she ordered.

"Yes Miss Stark, but don't you think you should stay here? Miss Potts is insisting..." the AI responded.

She sped out of the garage before Jarvis could finish. The tears came then. This was his house, his systems, the car that he got for her, and everything in that mansion was because of him. Pepper's words rang through her head.

Bad things happen.

A traffic light was up a head. She knew she was speeding with out a seatbelt on, and the light had just turned green, so she didn't slow. AC/DC blurred through her radio. She turned it down quickly. Tony likes AC/DC.

But it doesn't matter how bad it is that makes it bad.

However, the other light at the intersection was out and blinking yellow, a big 18 wheeler was right there, and the didn't see anyone else and, assuming it was a four way stop, kept going

It's how we react to it that causes damage.

She had just made it to where she couldn't back out, but so was the truck. The driver slammed on his breaks, but it wouldn't work, the truck t-boned her. She was hit by the truck itself, but was then thrown from the car.

Freak stuff can happen that causes huge problems for everyone.

She rolled on the ground several times, hitting her head several times, and landing in unusual positions. She felt, and heard, her bones break, she started bleeding, and heard ringing in her ears.

We still have to trudge on.

She felt everything go numb, and was only met with the smell of blood and gasoline. She turned her head to see people gasping as they saw who she was. She saw red and blue lights flashing, but before anyone could reach her, she passed out. There was no just trudging on.
