Ada closed her laptop as she finished her online courses for the day. She stepped out onto her balcony and looked down as the waves crashed against the rocks that held the oversized mansion. She went back inside and headed downstairs. She went into the kitchen and was surprised when a over sized cake sat on the kitchen counter. She looked down at it to see 'Happy Birthday Ada' written in frosting.
"Happy Birthday!"
She whipped around to find Pepper and Obadiah there.
"Even, though it was yesterday, we knew you wanted your alone time," Pepper smiled.
Ada nodded.
"So, what do you all have planned?" she asked curiously.
"Well tonight, we are having a party here! It will start in about two hours so we need to get you ready," Pepper explained enthusiastically. "I have a dress for you to wear and I will do your makeup for you! Follow me."
Pepper grabbed the teenager's wrist and dragged her across the house. She ended up in a room with a raise in the floor to stand on and a full 360 mirror. Pepper pulled out a purply pinkish dress and some heels. She put the and the heels, and then Pepper started to do her hair and makeup. Once she was finished, she put a blindfold over Ada's eyes and lead her in the mirror. Pepper removed the blindfold and Ada gasped at how she looked.
She looked absolutely stunning. Her hair was put in a messy bun. Her make up wasn't cakey, but just highlighted her features perfectly.
"What do you think?" Pepper asked as she tried to suppress a smile.
"I look beautiful," she murmured."What do you think?"
"Well, it's my work, but I'm very pleased with it," she stood by Ada's side. "I have to go get ready myself, now."
"Okay," Ada still continued to smile.
Only about 30 minutes till the party.
---------------
Ada strutted around the party that Obadiah and Pepper had thrown for her birthday. She had figured out Obadiah invited people as celebrities and other important figures surrounded the teenager, even though she could care less about any of them. Until one of the crowd members came up to her.
"Hey."
"Jackson, hi. I didn't expect to see you here," she noted as she saw the boy with piercing eyes and longish hair.
"Well, I heard about this party from one of my friends and he brought me here with him," he explained
"Who's your friend because all of these people are like famous?" she raised an eyebrow.
Then a man that she wouldn't have expected to walk up to the two did.
"Hey, Jackson," Dave Franco patted him on the back. "So, is she who you said you met at the cove?"
"Yeah, man," he nodded.
"Okay, well, I'll let you two talk, I've gotta find wherever James went," Dave left.
"So, how do you two know each other?" Ada asked.
"Well, I'm an aspiring actor, and we kinda ran in to each other one day and we just kinda clicked," he explained.
"That's cool," she smiled. "I never really get to talk to anyone. Even in school, considering I'm already in college. I guess Dad just doesn't want me to go out and tell anyone about what goes on inside of Stark Industries."
"Well, you should come over to my school one day, I'm sure you'd love it there."
"But you were at the cove on Friday, and isn't that a school day?"
"We already got out. You'd probably like my sister and all of her friends, though," he explained.
He leaned in and whispered in her ear.
"I may not know you too well yet, but I can tell you're not happy. Let's go out to the balcony."
The two left the noise and crowdedness of the party. The two sat down on the chairs out there and stared out at the moon shining brightly over the ocean.
"So, you seem so comfortable around me, but we don't really know each other. Tell me a little bit about yourself," he suggested.
"Well, I was an accident of Tony Stark and my mom had me in Paris, but we moved to America when I was three. Unfortunately, in the next few months my mom was killed in a car accident. I was taken here and they told Tony to take care of me, but he wasn't interested in me. So he sent me to public school until I got to high school when I was 12 and I was sent to a boarding school. After I graduated I started taking online courses at MIT. Um, I like to go surfing at the cove we met at and read on this balcony whenever I'm not there or doing my online courses. I do invent some in the basement, but only when my dad isn't there. Now, what about you?"
"Oh, well, I'm still in school, but it has a performing arts section. I'm really into performing, but I also like to surf as well. I live with just my mom, because my dad is deployed right now. I have a sister and there's nothing really else to it, I'm not like you and really smart and all," he responded.
The two talked the rest of the night, about anything and everything, just to get to know each other. Slowly, they started gaining interest in each other, but it all had to come to an end too soon, as Dave came out with James, as the party had ended and everyone was leaving. The two hugged when they said goodbye and then separated. Ada then realized that she liked Jackson.
