"Sam! Tucker!" Danny yell as he waved to his friends. Sam and Tucker wave back at Danny. When Danny and I land, Sam ran up and hugged Danny. I recognized Sam from pictures Jazz sent me in the past. Though I had completely cut contact with our parents, I still wrote Jazz from time to time.
"Happy birthday Danny!" Sam yelled.
"Happy birthday man!" Tucker yelled slapping Danny on the back.
"Thanks Sam. Thanks Tucker," Danny said with smile. Sam stopped and stared at me. She turned and looked at Danny.
"Danny? Who's this?" Sam asked pointing at me. Her violet eyes scanned me up and down as she re-clipped a lock of her raven colored hair back with her skull shaped hair clip. Sam's gothic attire reminded me of how I used to dress when I first started at the academy. Too bad her foundation didn't perfectly match her alabaster skin. I saw underneath her foundation below her right eye was a healing black eye.
Tucker's bright green blue eyes were also scanning me as well as he readjusted his dull red beanie. His chocolate brown skin showed signs of scratches and nicks from work with technology. The bruising on his wrists told me he was a victim of either self harm or bullying.
Anger bubbled up inside my chest. If these two were being abused I had to help them. But they were desperately trying to hide it from the world. I softly sighed, deciding it was better to ask both Tucker and Sam about their injuries later in private rather than questioning them in front of Danny.
"This is my big sister, Sophie," Danny said.
"Hi," I said waving.
"Hi," Sam and Tucker said in unison, both of them clearly confused.
"DUDE!! You didn't tell us you had TWO older sisters!" Tucker yelled.
"Well... I just met her today. Plus I only learned about her from Jazz a week ago," Danny said rubbing his arm.
"Wait? You didn't know about her before?" Sam asked as she raised an eyebrow before looking towards me.
"I can explain why," I said.
I explained to them about what had happened from the day I learned Danny existed, to when Danny wrote to me and to just a little bit ago when Danny discovered my secret. Sam and Tucker looked me then at each other. I looked at Danny.
"I still have one question," Sam said raising her hand.
"Yes Sam?" I said.
"How did you become Halfa?" Sam asked.
"I-I'm... I'm not sure if I'm ready to talk about that yet," I said as I rubbed my arm visibly showing that I was very uncomfortable with the topic.
Danny, Tucker and Sam nodded, respecting my wish to not bring how I became a Halfa up until I felt it was time. I looked at a clock in a store window as we walked back to Fenton Works. I stopped and stared in utter disbelief and fear at the current time.
"Oh crap!!! Danny!?! Do you know what freaking time it is!?!" I cried out.
"No," Danny said as he looked nervously at me.
"It's 3:45 am!!! We are so dead!!! The last thing I wanted on this trip was to get into trouble!!!" I screamed. Quickly jumping into the air I blasted past Danny, Sam and Tucker towards Fenton Works.
"Crap! I'm dead! I'm so dead! I'm so very dead!" I thought to myself as I flew through my bedroom window. I changed back and sat on my bed. I prayed I wasn't caught.
"Sophie Rachel Fenton!? You're a Ghost!?" mom yelled. I looked up. There standing in front of me was mom, dad and Jazz.
"You saw?" I asked sadly.
They nodded.
I gulped as my heart pounded loudly in my ears. I never wanted anyone to find out. My Parents were Ghosts Hunters. They could never accept that their oldest daughter was a Ghost. And not just any Ghost at that. A Halfa. The rarest, strongest and most lethal Ghost possible.
Only three Halfas existed currently. The first was an old collage friend of my parents named Vlad Masters. The second was Danny. The last? Myself.
"Answer your mother!" Dad yelled causing me to visibly jump.
"Y-yes. But to be completely honest with you, I'm only half Ghost. Or as the inhabitants of the Ghost Zone call us, a Halfa," I said.
Danny walked into the room in Human form. He shifted his weight from one side to the other. I knew he was worried.
"How did it happen sis?" Jazz asked.
"I made a promises to myself I would never tell. But I.. I'm going to break that promise," I said.
"Take your time," Mom said soothingly.
With a deep breath I began to explain, "Gates Ghost Hunters Academy was owned by the Guys in White. They've been trying to make an army of Halfas. I'm their first success. The thirteen other kids they turned into Halfas, died. Not long ago the Guys in White tried to use the academy to house us Halfas and train us. Thankfully the school was sold to Uncle Stephen and he's been preventing the Guys in White from using any of the other students as test subjects."
Everyone was silent.
"I lost two kids that looked up to me like an older sister. One was 6 years old. The other was 12 years old. They were the first. I'm the only success they've had," I said. I held back my tears like always, though inside me, I felt like I was being ripped in two.
Suddenly, I burst out crying. "Please don't send me back! I hate it there! If they find out you know they'll kill me!" I sobbed.
"We won't send you back. Right Maddie?" Dad asked Mom.
"Right Jack! Our oldest baby is staying right here!" Mom shouted excitedly.
"Really?!" I asked surprised.
Everyone said, "Yes."
